“Good and Bad”

H10 Lanzarote Gardens

Stayed here for 7 nights with our 2 children aged 4 and 5. The hotel overall is OK but not as good as I was hoping. We were located in block 200 next to the room my parents were allocated. After 1 night we had to swap because of the terrible noise from the road and Karaoke bars which didn't stop until gone 2 am. My parents heard none of the noise (room 217) as their bedroom faced the opposite direction, but room 218 was dreadful. The cleanliness of the rooms was good but did not include basic things like a kettle. The bathroom was better than some I've seen but worse than others. The pool area was inadequate for the size of the hotel and although signs said not to - people did reserve sunbeds. The water in the pool was ice cold and unfit for young children to swim in. We spent any time in the resort on the beach which was fantastic. The restaurant area was just average - and definately under staffed. Any dropped food was left for the duration, and on one occasion a waiter dropped a glass and left it in pieces on the floor. A family unknowingly sat at the table and we made a point of telling them about the broken glass around their feet. The entertainment at the hotel is first class. My children loved the Mini Disco and for that reason alone I'd say the hotel was acceptable overall - but nothing special.

Loved Costa Teguise and would return but only self catering as the restaurants are great for eating out. The trip to Fire Mountain was well worth it but the Tropical Gardens trip was not.

“Dirty restaurant and bland food”

We've just come back from a two week stay at the Lanzarote Gardens and although we enjoyed our holiday, the hotel left much to be desired.
Food
We paid for half board, but only ate in the restaurant 4 nights out of 14 because the food was so bland.
We had breakfast every day, but we had mainly "toast" with jam as the hot food buffet was quite greasy. The coffee was also dire.
Hygiene
The rooms were clean, but the restaurant wasn't. The highchairs for the children have definitely seen better days and were very sticky. On some of them, the same rests of food remained day after day. I asked the waiters if they could be cleaned and they just wiped them with a paper napkin! They could buy a new set of plastic highchairs in IKEA down the road for 15 euros each and solve half the problem.
It was a struggle to find clean dishes and they smelled of dirty dishwater water. The worst thing were the tables at the pool bar, were lunch is served. They are made of plastic imitating cane and are not designed for food, but to have drinks. There are fossilised remains of food in the rims as well as tons of trapped dust. We could have swapped our paid for dinner for lunch but we couldn't bring ourselves to eat at these tables.
Services
The pool was cold, even the baby pool. Not a problem for the adults but the children got cold very quickly. We enjoyed the warm sea at Las Cucharas beach instead. With so much sun, it would pay them to get some solar panels installed as so many other hotels have in the area.
Watch out for hidden costs. You have to pay for everything that most hotels include in the price: safe, iron, mattresses for the sunbeds, kettle, extra fan, etc. which seems rather petty.
The mini club was good but had harsh volcanic gravel on the floor instead of something soft.
Good points
The rooms were very clean. The bathrooms have recently been refitted and are very nice.
Staff very friendly.
Lots of activities.
The entertainment looked good and varied although we didn't stay to see it as we had to escape the dinner every night!
The location is very good, just a few minutes walk to the Las cucharas beach and the Pueblo Marinero, where there are some very nice restaurants and bars.
All in all, it was disappointing for us, specially as it wouldn't take much to make it a very good family hotel. We would go back to Costa Teguise, but not to Lanzarote Gardens as it stands at present.

We chose the H10 Lanzarote Gardens after a previous good experience staying in the H10 Andalucia Plaza, Spain and also the many positive reviews on this site.
Like many people on here the negatives are all based on the standard and choice of food. After 4 or 5 days of half board the choice became repetitive and the vegetarian options few and far between. That said it's worth knowing that you can swap your dinner entitlement for lunch in the pool bar and take advantage of the nearby bars and restaurants. Try La Ola on the sea front at Costa Teguise for fresh sea food.
Overall we were impressed with the facilities, our room, the animation team, the pool and the location. Not having our own kids we found the H10 Lanzarote Gardens spacious enough that we did not feel over run and would ceratinly recommend it to couples and families alike.

Just got back from the lanzarote gardens and i have to say after reading the reviews i was a little dissapointed with the place. The biggest gripe is the food it isnt good at all cold and repetative and mainly aimed at the german guests ie fish in the morning and cold meats and bacon dripping in fat. Secondly the so called baby club we dropped our 9 month old baby off for 25 minutes and the so called carer was on the phone because he needed his nappy changing, she only had 2 other babies there and couldnt cope. Ill get all the bad points out of the way first, there are some good points!!, when we arrived we had 2 big cases a stroller and baby and 2 hand luggage bags and was given no help what so ever just given the key and told to go while 4 members of staff watched us struggle. Im not just being a moaner but there was a microwave in the restaraunt to warm your dinners!!. The good points - the location was brilliant right in the middle of costa teguise excellent beaches and bars - the place was spotless. Looking back we would go back here but only on a self catering basis we had to spend a lot of money on food when we had already paid for half board.

Just had two wonderful weeks at this Hotel. The apartment was clean and spacious enough for two adults and two kids. The entire complex was extremely well presented, clean and accessable. Three pools were great and despite what people think, perfect temperature for swimming and playing. Food was excellent with a great selection of fish and meat available everday combined with fresh vegetables and fruit. All tastes were catered for. The entertainment team were fantastic, they worked all day entertaining young and old with organized activities for everybody finishing with a show in the evening which were excellent. My family and myself enjoyed the hotel so much we have booked for christmas. 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!
