Spent a week at Club La Santa and really enjoyed it. Have not been to similar resorts, but found the combo of hotel apartment (two rooms in our case, with bath and kitchenette), many free sports activities with instructor, and plenty of opportunities to do sports on your own to work really well. The room was a bit dated and sparsesly furnished, but everything worked fine including the beds. You need to rent an activator for the in-room safety box when you check in. If you plan to make your own meals you might consider to bring some kitchen towels and dish cloths, and the basic stuff like spices, oil etc. Very small wine glasses, maybe bring your own to taste the surprisingly good local wine. There is a small supermarket with awkward opening hours (opens 0800, 15 minutes before sports activities begin) and an OK selection of food, beverages, tanning lotion etc, at prices 10-20% higher than outside the resort (town of La Santa 1-2km away has same size supermarket). The resort is located on the outskirts of Lanzarote, don't expect shopping opportunities, night life or good eat-outs, without driving to one of the larger cities (on the west coast, like Puerto del Carmen). There are 4 restaurants on the resort but in general we found the food to be not good, merely acceptable (of course depending on your standards :-). Though, some of the pizzas at the pool bar were really good. The pool area is nice and the apparently worked well for families with small children. The staff, both resort, restaurant and other staff, were all friendly and service minded, and delivered promptly. The evenings were a bit chilly in part due to the ever-blowing wind, but the atmosphere is nice and rather quiet. We found the sports facilities and instructor led sessions to work really good and be well worth the money, although you should pay attention that sessions tagged "Beginner" do not turn out to be "Intermediate" (one mountain bike session turned out Intermediate and cost two participants considerable injuries). The diving center is excellent with the best staff.
If the restaurant food had been better I would rate the resort "Very good".
