I took a group of 15 adults to stay at the Hotel Tigaiga for a week.
Great welcome from this family-run hotel (complimentary sherry on arrival) and a lovely hotel, set in beautiful large gardens. Quiet location overlooking Puerto de la Cruz, a 10 minute walk down into the town, preferably a taxi back (3euros).

The hotel thoroughly deserved its 4-star ranking - food, rooms, decor, staff - all excellent and I had absolutely no grounds to complain about any aspect of the hotel. Buffet breakfast had a huge selection of hot and cold foods. We were on half board basis, so dinners were from a limited menu, but well presented and generous portions. The staff were friendly, attentive, but not 'over the top'. One of our group arrived separately on a late flight, yet the staff made him a meal at 10.45pm.

Rooms had marvellous views over the city and sea or to the mountains behind the town. High standards of cleanliness, air conditioned, mini bar and private bathrooms superbly equipped (3 types of towels, dressing gowns, fresh flowers etc).

We had our own minibuses, the hotel was easily accessed from the motorway, from our point of view this could not have been better as we were out most days. The city could get very congested and accessing downtown hotels could have been difficult, but the Tigaiga scored here in its quiet tree-lined location, just off the main route from motorway to city centre.

I would certainly return. Full marks to the Tigaiga and a great thankyou from 15 of us to the Talg family that runs the hotel.

We originally planned to stay in 3 different hotels between 24 and 31 December in Tenerife, but we liked the Tigaiga so much that we cancelled the 3rd hotel to return here. What makes this hotel special is their superb, friendly and personal service.
This is a hotel that caters more for the mature market than for the clubbing teenagers, but that suited us perfectly - two couples (perfectly middle-aged) and one child (6). Almost all the staff will speak either English or German.
The breakfast buffet has an excellent range of choice, including good strong coffee.
We took half-board (the Christmas eve dinner starts with cocktails at 6 pm), and they serve dinner from 6.30 onwards, which is good for children and non-Spanish diners.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the cleaning efficient and unobtrusive. The beds were medium to firm.
The pool was a little cold, but it was warm enough to sit around the pool, read and laze around (or one could sit out on the balcony).

The family run Hotel Tigaiga is a joy.
The staff are friendly courteous and go out of their way to make ones stay pleasurable.
The smallish hotel is in first class order with every luxury.
The walk to Puerto de la Cruz is pleasant but to come back we took a taxi (About 3 Euros , as we are getting on a bit.
Warmly recommended and should be 5 star rather than 4 but is 4 as it doesn't have a jacuzzi or indoor pool.

Well run, peaceful venue in north tenerife - mature clientele enjoying carefully provided facilities in an almost perfect climate. Attractive gardens, great views. Well appointed rooms and attentive friendly staff. Many return visitors attest to its well deserved reputation as one of the leading hotels on the island.
