Great Value Holiday booked through Mercury Direct . Hotel was very good value for money ( we paid £800 approx each for three weeks all inclusive ) . Hotel common areas / bars / pools restaraunts etc were allways clean and tidy and well appointed .The hotel room and en suite bathroom were clean and well appointed and of a good size . The room was cleaned and towels changed daily , linen was changed every other day .The chamber maids were efficient and friendly . The catering standard was high the food being delicious and varied at each meal . Wine / beer / cava / soft drinks being available at every meal on a self service basis .
The hotel and surrounding area of Puert de la Cruz are very nice
well cared for promenades and beach areas.
The area is best suited for older couples or those wanting rest and quiet . It is definitely not Blackpool or Torremolinos .
The only minus points were that some of the hotel front office and bars staff were less than friendly/ helpful , but you cant have everything , can you . Also just as an aside the hotel caters for and is very popular with German / Spanish visitors .

Two weeks at the Turquesa as a Saga traveller !
Vast hotel - unattractive from outside but pleasant enough inside. Staff courteous & efficient. Rooms clean & functioning properly.
Enormous dining room - rather an assault course for some frailer Saga guests. Food good for buffet style mass catering. Plenty of fresh fruit & salad. Enjoyed the Papas Arrugidas - Canary Island spuds.
Unfortunate that the hotel has no outside sitting areas except the pool & the roof.
Beautiful semi tropical vegetation around Puerto de la Cruz & the sea front very attractively landscaped. Boggled at the black beaches though !
Puerto de la Cruz seemed the nicest town to based in, in Tenerife. The Loro Park was worth visiting and the Jardine Botanico was enchanting. Taxis were cheap & plenty of buses. A good value holiday..

Well when we arrived it seemed good at first impressions although after a day it was beguinning to notice that all the staff dont do service with a smile, most of the people are totally misarble and German and elderly which is okay but not when they complain constantly if you open your mouth, the Staff never spoke English to your face and the only time they did is when my 13 YR old son used the lift 3 times in a row and suddenly they spoke clear English and asked for our room numbers in an agressive way. we asked on countless occasions for room service but they never turn up and the following day they was to others., they allow Spanish and German folk to push in front of you and you are shooved to the back of the pile and it is clear to see who the favorite age and language is and it is ideal for the elderly as they are treated like royalty. , we tried to book a restuante one day but they said they were full we were suspicious and walked into the restuante and it was near enough empty. the entertainment was not good we only watched it one night and it only lasted for 20 mins of it when we are in the bar and we were laughing along to some jokes at about 9pm thebar staff approached and told us to be quiet or leave we were gobsmacked, the other entertainment is not treanslated into english and all of the staff were very unhelpful and only spoke basic english when they talk to us but when they complain about you its like they were born with the language. Not recommened at all to any one there is no nightlife within walking distance and the food is basic and repeated.

I visited this hotel in March 2008 with my husband with SAGA.

We arrived at 2015 because of the terrible weather in the UK. The luggage with alot of asking arrived at 2100 and the reception staff do not speak English that time of night. The room has a dirty mouse trap and only one socket so either plug in the fridge or the TV............... whole room needed an upgrade and the view was a mountain way up high and the only plus about the room was the size. The bathroom was dowdy and the shower curtain too short resulting in a big puddle on the floor....... Next day the SAGA rep went to the desk and arranged another room as it was either that or go home as we had not unpacked. It was available from 1pm . He said SAGA bar certain rooms and this would be one of them.

The 2nd room on the 2nd floor had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and was lovely. The room was smaller BUT had sufficient sockets and the shower curtain was a little longer and mostly you could avoid flooding the bathroom. The cleaners although not early were good.

The biggest bugbear was the food. Warm or cold and only hot if you had the freshly fried fish but as I am into healthy eating I couldnt do that everyday and the salads were covered in mayo or dressing mostly. My husband loved the school-dinner style puddings and green jelly but 1 scoop for 5 flavours of ice cream is not good.

You could at certain hours book for certain ones of the 4 other eating places. Only the Italian one was good and we only found that on the last night and the food was hot. Apart from the Paella in the BBQ place that didnt do BBQ food the menu was the same as the main eating place but less crowded as you had to book and without booking in advance you couldnt come..............even if the place was empty.......

The trip to the Mountain was good but the guide was terrible and not only his English. He smoked continously and was boring.


The trip to LaLagouna was good but the market has not been there for 2 years but the info still shows it on the info and the rep Ian was not interested in altering it. It was a free trip so anyway. The other rep Michealla was ill for most of the week and spoiled the Gala dinner by not eating and not understanding or knowing about local things. Another traveller had seen her before in Maderia and said she was the same there................ she is off to Venice now so beware...................


Overall it was okay and the weather good and the area lovely but wont go back to this hotel . Lots of old people had been 5+ times before and said the food was colder. The outdoor pool was huge but cold and something is wrong about the base- it floats.......... didnt try the indoor pool or gym
