I went to Las Aguillas last year with my boyfriend and I enjoyed it very much actually. I suppose APRIL is a bit quiet time to spend holidays in Tenerife, but if you are looking for a getaway place to rest and forget city problems, this hotel is perfect for you.

I thought it was overall very clean, the rooms were very pleasant, cousy and were cleaned daily. It had a nice balcony with chairs, and a lovely bathroom with hidromassage.

The food at that season was always excellent at breakfast , and nice at dinner , but very dissapointing at lunch. There were little people at lunch and maybe that was one of the reasons. And also the la-carte restaurant was always closed. There was litle action on that side.

This hotel has very nice and clean pools, though in April is still a bit cold to get in them. The staff at the reception were really nice and polite and all the other staff too. There was some animation every night, but most of it tended to be for children.

The Hotel Las Aguilas is situated on a hill with fabulous views. We drove up from Teneriffe South airport and when we arrived in Puerto de la Cruz you couldn't miss the hotel - it looked very impressive high up on a hill. When we arrived in our suite we were also very impressed. There was only me, my husband and our 7 year old daughter but we had a suite with two double bedrooms and two bathrooms - it was fantastic. The balcony was enormous but unfortunately in January was not in a position to catch the sun but nevertheless it was wonderful. The main bathroom also had a spa bath, which proved popular with our daughter.

The staff were also great, the food was equally good. Normally when we stay in a half board hotel, we usually end up eating out a few evenings as we get sick of going into the same restaurant but we ate in the hotel every morning and every night. There was an excellent selection. There is a great shopping centre over the road but really you do need a car if you want to get around. We did walk into Puerto de la Cruz one day leaving from the back entrance to the hotel but our legs were aching the next day as it's all downhill and it took as about an hour. There is a bus that runs regularly from the hotel, so it's not a problem getting into the town and the taxi fares if you want to stay in Puerto de la Cruz in the evenings are extremely reasonable.

The entertainment in the hotel was okay. They had dancers on a couple of nights a week and a resident entertainer - who was a hit with our little girl.

A visit to Loro Park is also a must in Puerto de la Cruz. The penguin park is extremely impressive and there are shows with dolphins, sea lions and killer whales - equally as good as Seaworld in Florida .

We stayed for 10 days and could have stayed longer. We would have no problem staying at the Las Aguilas hotel again and would definitely recommend it.

“Wonderful and QUIET - The hotel with no name !!!!!”

Aparthotel Las Aguilas

We too cannot understand why this hotel was so quiet as we too ended up having the whole pool to ourselves some days! Not that we went in the pools because they were too cold but they did look very nice. It was also strange in that the hotel didn't have a name - take a look at our photo - wouldn't you think there should be a sign for the Aguilas?

The staff were fantastic. The room was fantastic. The views were fantastic. The weather was fantastic.

The rooms are suites with a bedroom (huge bed) , a living area with a kitchen (no utensils as I think you have to pay to hire these separately but as we were half board we didn't want to cook), a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and an enormous balcony accessible from the bedroom or the living room.

Food was great as there was something for everyone but we tended to stick to the salad bar and still could hardly walk out of the restaurant!

We did use the courtesy bus into Puerto but as mentioned the Germans tended to push their way onto the bus and this did cause a problem as we had formed a queue! Taxi's weren't expensive but a car is the best option to get out and about.

Puerto de la Cruz is a wonderful place and we spent a couple of days at the pools and the botanical gardens. The rest of the time we drove out to other resorts.

The only thing I can complain about is that I had asked for a high floor room and the noise from the motorway was much louder than I expected. The motorway seems to be busy all night. You can pay extra for a room at the front but I think they would lose the sun earlier in the day.

Would love to be able to visit this hotel again.

We stayed at the Las Aguilas in November last year. You can spot the impressive hotel from the motorway as it sits upon it's own perch above the bay.

Check in was no problem, we found the reception staff to be exceptional thoughout our stay. They answered any questions we had and nothing seemed to be too much of a task for them.

Our room was particularly nice, we had a one bedroom apartment with a view of the front of the hotel which was nice in the evening as we got the last sun of the day. The sun was hot enough from around 10 am to 5 pm to sit out. There is a living area witha small kitchen however there didn't seem to be any untensils! The views form the hotel were stunning and defintely worth the 4 euro taxi journey into the centre of town.

Breakfast was served in the large dining hall on the gound floor. You could choose from a selection of hot and cold food which ranged from a fried breakfast to meat and cheese. There is also sparkling wine to get the day started!

The are two pools, the main one which is right beside the bar/
restaurant area and the other which is further round the corner at the kids club area. We spen most of our time at the bar area pool as it was closer and generally quieter. There was one day when we had the whole pool to ourselves! The downside of the hotel being quieter was that it was slower to get served in the restaurant. Even if you were looking for a snack you had to wait a while and sit at the restaurant area which could sometimes be a bit chilly in the shade!

The hotel was very european, we prefered the mix of people rather than being stuck in hotel than may as well be anywhere in the uk. However if you enjoy that part of your holiday this isn't the hotel for you.

It takes around 5 mins in a taxi to get the centre square which is great for evenings out. There are quite a few restaurants however most of them serve the same kind of food. Most of it is to a good standard and there are a few bars in the area however we found that the majority of them were closed as it was late in the year. The ones that were open catered for an older crowd.

Overall we enjoyed out stay in the hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet holiday in a good standard hotel.
