This was our second stay at the Hotel Villalba, and it is probably one of our favourite hotels in the world! The hotel is situated amongst the pine trees above the village of Vilaflor, and it is an easy walk down into the village. There are also a number of walks in the area, starting from the hotel. The setting is superb, the bedrooms luxurious and large, and we had rooms with wonderful balconies. The spa, which can be reached either through stairs from Reception or by taking the lift from the first floor bedroom corridor (useful if you are walking around in the towelling robe you are provided with), is very under-utilised most of the time. With a fantastic indoor/outdoor swimming pool with jacuzzi jets, warm jacuzzi, wet and dry saunas, steam room and relaxation room, you can easily spend all day in the spa. There are hot drinks available, and seats inside and outside around the pool. Massage is available at an additional cost.
Drinks can be served on the patio, or in the lounge where the fire is lit in the evening and where there are a number of comfortable chairs and sofas.
There are only two comments I would make. The first is that they need to change the menu in the restaurant more often. We were staying 7 days on each occasion during which time the menu remained unchanged. The food is very good, but we had exhausted the choices very quickly which meant we needed to walk down to the village for dinner on a couple of occasions, just to have a change. The second point is that they really need to have prices available earlier in the year. On both visits we booked directly with the hotel and bought flights independently, and we like to book up well in advance. We struggled to get a price from them until about three months before the start of our holiday, which is a worry when you've already paid for flights and are unsure about having any accommodation.
Having said this, we have booked to return again with friends, and are very much looking forward to it. One final point - the photographs on the hotel website don't do it justice, in my view.
