Stayed here for 3 nights in early June for a biz meeting plus some touring on the side. Best part are the quiet room, nice linens, comfy bed, pillows, powerful A/C and slick TV. We found at other hotel stays in BCN that it was always a challenge to keep the room cool enough much less find a restaurant or museum that was effectively air-conditioned.
Metro was a good 12-15 minute walk from hotel, surrounding area had plentiful choices for dining (tried the Mariscos Restaurant nearby on our last night, it was excellent). Breakfast at hotel was pricey as stated by other reviewers. Note that it is more than the continental though, there is a card on each table with hot items like omelettes, crepes, bacon and eggs, etc which are all included in the price. Restaurant staff was great and all spoke enough English to get what you needed if you are linguistically-challenged.
Roof top area was tiny but usable if there wasn't a crowed up there. There was an awning that provided some shade. It was a nice spot at the end of a long day hiking around to relax with a couple of cold cerveza's and take in the view. PIck up your cold Estrella beers at the nearby 24/7 market and toss them in your mini-fridge
Where this hotel actually fell down was on basic customer serivce requests. Could have been just the front desk guy I was dealing with but they made some of the basic needs challenging. I asked for an iron at 1030p and was told housekeeping was closed until 8a the next morning (right when we were leaving). Really!? Doesn't anyone else have a key to housekeeping? Tried to get some batteries for the tv remote which took way more effort than it should have. We tried to drop off the remote at front desk on way to dinner. They wanted us to call from room and the story goes downhill from there. BTW. good luck figuring out how to use the phone!
If you like the modern, all white look, you will enjoy this place. Can't imagine how it will hold up in the long run as parts of it were getting a little scuffed up already. On this same trip, we also stayed at 4 Points by Sheraton (will post a review there next) out by the Glories mall. At a lesser price, we enjoyed it more based on immediate vicinity and customer service even though the rooms there could have been a little colder. Do I sense a theme in this review?
Although we were on 3rd floor facing the street, the room was very quiet, no noise issue whatsoever.
