This hostel was perhaps one of the strangest places I have ever stayed.
Firstly, on the positive side – the location is excellent and you get what you pay for. Rooms are small and for a family I think this hostel would work well. However if you plan on having any excitement going out in Barcelona, forget this place! We were given a 2am curfew! Meaning that we had to be back in the hostel by 2am else stay out all night until the next morning. We were not given a key to the place and we had to call ( buzz the front door and wake everyone else) to wake the lady who runs the hostel in order to gain entry – before or after 2 am. I found this unnerving.
My friend and I separated one night and she came home without me. She buzzed in in order to gain entry and the lady asked where I was!! On top of that – we were given a triple room instead of a double ( mix up with our booking!) My friend slept in the double and I took the single ( we had to take the sheet off the double bed as the single was not dressed). The next day, the hostel owner gave off to us as we had only paid for as double room hence not allowed to sleep in the single!!!!! Unbelievable!!! This gives you a sense of what this place is like – if you plan on having a quiet break and don’t mind staying in such an environment ( no common room) then this is the place for you. If you don’t want to feel like big brother is around suggest going elsewhere
