What can I say!, it costs very little to stay here and the proximity to La Rambla is a plus. On the other hand it was the only negative thing about my trip to Barcelona. The rooms are tiny, creatures crawling on the floor, noisy, unbearably stuffy and hot, shower did not work on the first morning, prostitutes and other dubious characters hanging around outside, dreadful stench on the street outside(did experience some wretching)....worst place I have ever stayed......makes a tent look like luxury. Never again. Barcelona is fantastic, I would definately spend a bit more on accommodation next time.

Reading the other reviews I was worried about staying at this hotel, although I needn't have been. Although this is a one star, the service is great, everything from the greeting you get when you arrive to the staff working all day to keep the rooms clean and commmunal ares spotless.

Yes, my friends and I saw prostitutes right outside, however the receptionist "jordi" told us exactly where to go to avoid any trouble, and I can honestly say that as 3 girls we did not feel threatened once. The police presence is huge to avoid any trouble.

The hotel Barbara is an excellent location to explore Barcelona, especially the nightlife as everything is so close. I would go to the same hotel with no hesitation, and would recommend to friends. The prostitutes we are told are being moved outside the city in two weeks, and I think this will make Hotel Barbara a popular destination.

The rooms are tiny and we had a few different three bed and two bed rooms on a hen weekend, with very limited wardrobe space and only one mirror in bathroom. It was a nightmare all of us getting ready to go out.

The neighbourhood is intimidating even when you're in a group of 15. We were hissed at and followed down the road to the hotel and even the taxi drivers were warning us to be careful. Taxi drivers lock their doors on the way into this neighbourhood.

It is cheap and near the Rambles but for peace of mind and more space stay elsewhere. Be aware of pickpockets as two of our party had their bags stolen in the centre of Barcelona and we were being careful.

Probably better suited to a stag party!

Stayed at this place in July for 2 nights - what can I say? The worst place I have ever stayed at. The one good thing was the staff, who we found to be very friendly and accommodating. And the proximity to the Ramblas - 5 minute walk.

However, the hotel is located right in the seedy red light area. Now, I am fairly broad minded and well travelled and thought this wouldnt be a problem, but the reality was quite different. I have never seen anything like it in my life! There must have been about 40 prostitutes standing right outside the hotel, with another 40 seedy blokes/pimps standing loitering around with a dodgy bar just across from the hotel. How awful! And round the corner was even worse! So many scary people!!

The hotel room itself was awful, absolutely tiny, like a shoe box. The bathroom was the worse ever, you could hardly even sit in the toilet, it wasnt comfortable at all. The bathroom was horrible too as you couldnt even shower in privacy as there was no door, just a glass partition so everybody could see everything!!

All in all, a very unpleasant experience. I ceratinly would not stay here again.
