The hotel is close to the airport by taxi but by metro it take 1 hour. The hotel is not located in the center but the metro of Madrid is easy to use so this is a good place. You should go to “Ciudad Lineal” on line 5 and take the exit “Calle Barracin”. When coming out of the metro, just keep walking down the street until you see the VW shop – turn right as this is the street of the hotel. It’s down the hill. We had a duplex suite which was quite big. The bathroom is really too small as other travellers said and when taking a shower, the wall behind was also wet, and the floor floaded by the water so be careful. The kitchenette consists only of a microwave and there is a Nespresso machine (2 euro/cup of coffee). There were 4 glasses, 4 coffee cups and 4 plates so we had to ask for cutlery, which they brought immediately. Be advised that it is impossible to cook, you can only by prepared food and put it in the microwave. So ‘kitchenette’ is a big word for what is in there but it was OK. All the furniture of the room is made of natural things (mainly wood) which creates a nice atmosphere. The duplex suite consisted of 4 single beds + 1 sofa bed for 2. It is not well isolated so we could hear the children of the neighbours climbing up and down the stairs and jumping on the 1st floor which was really annoying. Also, our room (403) was facing the street and there is a bus company not so far from the hotel: be prepared to hear them using the carwash until very late at night … it is also very noisy, unless you leave the windows closed. BUT, this is nothing compared to the noise you could have if staying in a hotel at the Gran Via in the city center. Otherwise, the staff is really nice and spoke a little bit of French. There is a free wifi in the hotel (1 per floor, just use the password ‘suites’ to connect to it) and the hotel is really clean. We did not have breakfast there so I have no idea of the breakfast quality. They also printed our boarding passes for free, which was really appreciated. (in other hotels, they were asking 12 euro for the Internet connection and 20 cents per sheet of paper) Last info: if landing in Barajas, be informed that the metro machines do not accept non-Spanish credit card. They have the sticker for Maestro, Visa, MasterCard but it is only for Spanish cards! Also, the maximum cash allowed in the machine is 20 euro (and not 50 euro as advertised) so bring cash with you to pay your ticket.
