Spent 2 days at the Sidi in early February 2007. Overall a pleasant experience, although I have to warn that there are hidden extras (this may be the norm in 5 star hotels - I don't know because I don't stay at many).
The room was excellent - great views. Breakfast was superb. Not much in the way of English speaking channels on the tele (Sky News, BBC news and CNN - there were lots of German channels!). Bar was clinical (boring). May have been better if there had been more people staying there. Apart from our group of 6 I saw 2 other people at breakfast on one of our 2 days.
Now to the main gripe. I wanted a swim, sauna and steam bath. Unfortunately with my lack of Spanish and the staff's lack of English I ended up missing out on the swim and steam bath and only had a sauna (excellent with sea views). It was also nearly very embarassing as the changing area was invaded by a female staff member showing a couple around about a minute after I had been standing there naked changing into my swimming shorts (I am male and middle-aged - it wouldn't have been a pleasant experience for them or for me). For this experience I received a rather curt telephone call to my room and was unexpectedly charged 12 euros - I believed it to be free as the gym was advertised as free and I wrongly assumed that the gym, pool, sauna and steam room were all attached (as they have been everywhere else that I have stayed).
Beware that the car park is expensive as well.
