We were in this area a year ago visiting my partners daughter and saw this hotel during our travels. It looked impressive so we decided that when we returned, we would stay here.

We were not disappointed. The rooms, whilst fairly basic, come with plenty of wardrobe space, free safety deposit box, TV with English Channels including BBC, and spacious bathrooms. Upon arrival, I just chanced it and asked for pool view rooms (there were 4 of us travelling) and was immediately given them. This was probably due to the fact that the hotel was not very full during our stay. The only real downside is that the rooms allocated did not have much in the way of a balcony, but the view of the pool was wonderful.

The breakfast was very good, plenty of choice and comfortable seating. The times were also very agreeable, 8 am to 11 am, great if you are a late riser. Lunch was available in the Bar, and both food and drinks were very reasonably priced for a four star hotel. The hotel appears to be occupied by Brits either looking for property in the area, or by those visiting friends/relatives. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and very courteous, nothing was any trouble. Other plus points are free internet access and free parking in the Hotels own car park. The weather was rather good for the time of year, a little windy but definately sunbathing weather.

Out and about, we visited the old faithful El Muelle, in the Torrevieja town centre - always and excellent meal. The rest of the time we spent nearer the hotel. Stan and Ollie's, on the El Raso estate, was very pleasant. There is an Italian across the road from the Hotel which was not as good, and quite expensive. for what it was. Sunday Lunch at Casa Nicolas is always a pleasure, and excellent value - 3 courses for 13.25 Euro.

This must be one of the better hotels in the area and I would absolutely return to it.

We came down here for our marriage and stayed for a rather long time. I'm delighted the wedding itself went very fine, because the stay in Hotel La Laguna almost ruined our stay because of the lousy service.

Some examples:
My brother in law got ill during the stay, probably something he ate, and was all out of water in his room. He went down to the reception and politely asked for some water and perhaps some pain killers, but was denied both although he was clearly ill. He had to wake up the another couple to get some water they had in their room.

The hotel claims it has smoke free zones. Yet my wife and myself encountered a bloke smoking a cigar while walking around in the corridor without the hotel staff reacting at all. Since my wife is very allergic to cigarette smoke, she got ill several times during the stay. It also was obvious that smokers had used the gym, and that the locations was poorly cleaned because cigarettes and ashes lay around.

The last night we were in the reception area when some young men entered the room smoking. The reception staff and hotel guard didn't bother, but we politely asked the smokers to respect non smoking areas because of my wife. They refused, and we literally had to push them outside in front of a guard that seemed more interested in chatting up the receptionist than doing his job. When the smokers entered the reception area, me and my family were harassed (The mildest was: "You're not wanted here. You're not wanted in Spain. Go back!") in front of the same hotel staff who still did nothing.

When my father in law asked the staff how they could just stand there and do nothing, they responded by laughing of him, and probably the rest of us, behind his back.

I've been to some bad hotels and received all kinds of service. Nothing compares to this bad level of service.

Needless to say: Nobody in our extended family will ever visit Hotel La Laguna again.

“The best choice if you need to stay in the area”

Most of the people staying in the hotel either seem to be visiting ex-pat relatives or are buying property on one of the massive housing estates that dot the area. We fall into the former camp and this hotel is the best place to stay in the Guardamar area. The area would not normally top my list for a holiday destination (we prefer either large cities or quiet locations), but for one of the two purposes I mention, it's a great choice.

The room could have done with a lick of paint on the walls, but it was otherwise clean and very comfortable. There's plenty of toiletries in the bathroom and the TV has lots of UK satellite TV channels. Our room had a balcony, but it overlooked a set of skylights, so not very pretty really!

Whilst there is a large spa beneath the hotel, we decided not to pay for any treatments and even the hot tubs were 25 euros each for a 'tour' of the different pools. There is a large pool outside, but we didn't try it as the weather was fairly crummy when we went.

Locally there are lots of the kinds of restaurants the ex-pat community seems to like: Chinese, pizza, etc. and the hotel itself has a fairly pricey Spanish menu. The bar does do some great cocktails though and we had the best margaritas we tasted in a bar (second only to the ones we make ourselves at home).

Breakfast is very good - in addition to a very large selection of cold meats, bread and cheese, there are also lots of pastries and the Brits are well catered for with bacon and eggs. Service at breakfast is a bit slow though and once you've had the first cup of coffee, you do need to chase for more.

Given that we only paid 93 euros for a double room with breakfast for two, this was an outstanding deal.

“Fantastic Hotel”

What a fantastic hotel. I stayed here for ten days with my family, we needed a base in the Alicanti area while we looked at villas.
Everything about this hotel was first class, the accommodation, staff were polite and friendly and the brekfast was excellent. The pool and spa facilities of a very high standard.
It did get busy at weekends and we had to wait a while to be seated for breakfast, but worth the wait.
Iwould recommend this hotel for a relaxing quiet holiday.

Returned yesterday from a one night triangle trip to southern spain: Frankfurt-Hahn//London-Stansted//Murcia//Frankfurt-Hahn
all on Ryanair. Murcia airport is real in the middle of nowhere, a rental car is highly recommendable, no bus service, only expensive taxi`s. I´ve booked Sunny Cars, 30.-- EURO´s all included, a new Ford
Fiesta, ok so far.

From Murcia airport, exit the motorway at Torrevieja norte, also the direction, and later to the left, direction Guardamar, you will pass the hotel only by 100 meters from the main road. The location itself was quiet during my stay, wind was heavy, but I´ve managed a room on the eastern side, so a good sleep there. A nice pool area viewable from my room and some spa facilities, dont had the time to visit it all.

Front desk staff was real friendly, both at check in and check out,
no time to wait, both ways. My room had a separate terrace to sit outside in the sun, was spacious and clean, the bathroom fitted with the very welcomed bathtub and was also decorated in mexican hacienda style. Breakfast was ok, a bit from the smaller side, but I think the hotel was far from fully booked, so they offered not that much breakfast details, really ok for me at all.

Booking was done by german consolidator HRS, a real good fare = 80,92 EUR B&B, around 30.-- Euros cheaper than on other websites.
Ok for a short stay, not my number one for longer vacation.
