After reading the last review,it was with some anxiety
that we left for a week in this hotel.
I am glad to say that our fears were unfounded ,indeed,
I wonder if the last reviewer stayed at the same hotel.
We checked in at 1-45am ,staff were brisk but polite.
The room we were given was large, with wide beds, a sitting
area and a decent size terrace/balcony.All rooms have a
sea view of sorts, some better than others. Tip 1,try and
get end rooms at front eg 419/414/.
All other areas of hotel were first class ,in fact what you
see on photos is what you get.
To deal with the so called unedible food, whilst its not
gourmet its perfectly acceptable for the price you pay.
Plenty to chose from including a very good salad and
fruit selection.Tip 2 ,avoid the vegetables, as in most hotels,
it wil be overcooked.
It is true to say that the same duo provide the entertainment
but we found them ok. There is an additional act on
Fri/Sat about 11pm, these were two flamenco dancers
and an Argentinian show act when we were there,
As for nobody being there, it was very busy from Thurs to
Sat ,in fact we could not find a seat on the Sat ,and the
lounge is huge.
It also has a large dance floor which seems to be popular
with the locals.
It is true to say that Albir is quiet,at least at this time of
year, but you can easily reach Benidorm/Calpea/Javea
etc by bus , and a 30 min stroll along the front will take you
to Altea .
All in all.a very enjoyable stay and would reccomend this
hotel to all but families with young children.

“The youthful or young at heart avoid Albir”

The hotel itself as said in other reviews is clean with lovely staff and does have a great beach front location. However, we were looking for a break where it wasn't Benidorm but wasn't boredom central either - we got the latter. The hotel entertainment was dire with at any given time only a few toddlers running over the dance floor or a few pensioner doing the foxtrot! It consists of a male and female duo singing awful old songs. We ventured out but the bars were dull with no entertainment - at one point the highlight of our week was listening to the American Indians playing Abba tunes on flutes on the street opposite the bar we were in !!!! Seriously, a week in this town was way too long. But I'm not saying avoid the hotel because of just this cause you might think it would be ideal if you wanted to share nice conversation in a quiet bar - but the food was appalling. I cannot understand the reviews that say it is even palatable. If you have never tasted anything other than school dinners or prison food then maybe there is an exception but it can only be described as slop. Everything was over cooked, the fish was tough and whatever the meat was it was always in a some sort of indistinguishable sauce and I'm a bit of a foodie. We found a bar / restaurant that saved our rumbling tummies tho Coco Loco. The food is great and is so cheap you - we ate here 5 or 6 times for lunch or dinner. Be careful tho the bars /restaurants to the left of the hotel seem to be more expensive. All in all I plead with you only to come here if you intend to eat out and don't mind a very quiet location with nothing to do but laze in the sun and chat over a few drinks in the evening. Its a lovely hotel for only that otherwise you'll be bored stiff.

“Good Hotel, Bad Beach”

We have just come back from Kaktus Albir and must say that a hotel is indeed nice while the beach all across Albir is not that good. The main problem is WAVES, which we have not seen on any of the Benidorm beaches. The waves make it rather difficult to go into the sea, you must always strive them. The other thing is pebble (small and big), which is OK if you know about it in advance.

The Hotel is great, rather quiet, as well as the area itself. We had a room on the top floor, it was quiet and nice. Be prepared to pay extra for using minibar (10 euro), safe (15 euro per week + 5 euro key deposit) + 10 euro deposit for a beach towel. The staff is polite and helpful. We also enjoyed the food, we were on HB. I liked a variety of fruits (melon, pine, watermelon, pears, plums, etc every day). On Friday nights there is a special seafood dinner with a special ice-cream cake, we did like it!

The Hotel is overall very good. We were probably the youngest there as the most guests are of mature age, which did not bother us at all. Most guests are from UK and Spain.

Please note that while Benidorm is rather close to Albir (3-5 kms), it takes more than half an hour to get there by bus as it goes all around Alfaz del Pi village. From Benidorm (Avenigda de Europa) it is possible to take a bus to Alicante (1hr, 4 euro p/p), Valencia (2-2.5 hours, 13 euro p/p) and other cities.

We have just returned from the kaktus albia, we was a little worried as could not really find many english reviews on this hotel but as soon as we got to the hotel there we had nothing to worrie about.
The staff were very helpful and alway had a smile for you, The hotel was very very clean and everyday we saw people cleaining widows, wall etc.
The food was also good - lots of things to choose from and something differnt each night!
The drinks were a good price to!

The pools was nice to laze aroung all day and you never had to worrie about getting a sunbed as they do not open the pools untill 10am.

The evening entertainment was caterd for the older guest but there are a few nice little bars just a few min walk from the hotel.

The room was lovely we had a great sea veiw and had the sun untill about 7pm on our balcony room 336

overall - i would say if you are looking for good location nice hotel for a family or couple in a lovley town then go to the kaktus albia

Would go back.

I stayed here with my partner for a week at the end of august 2007. Just going to make this short and sweet and striaght tio the point!

Booked with on Teletext holidays with company called Fleetway Travel, recieved a good deal and adequate service compared to others.

Transfer:
On Arrival we got a taxi to the hotel. The transfer took approx 1hour from the airport to the hotel. Price we was charged for two, 70 euros. Pricey!

Rooms:
The room Ok, the bathroom spacious and clean!! The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The only down point was the decor of the rooms, a tad bit old fashioned.

Faclities:
There are two pools which were poor. Compared to other hotels, both of the pools are small. One is located on the roof where gym and hairdresser is located. Plenty of space to sunbathe although at times it may get too hot! (note no parasols) but the view here is amazing.

The other pool is located at the back entrance of the hotel, again small.

The bar area is extremely spacious with not much happening there, just a pool table.

Food:
Ok. Me and my partner was on a Halfboard basis. Buffet style.
Be expected to pay for your drinks on HB basis!

Location:
Very quiet area with alot of the locals visiting, so no english hooligans to spoil your holiday!

Hotel is only a stone throw away from the pebbled beach. The beach charged 3euros for a sunbed. This would last until the 19.00. The water is full of seaweed but dont let that stop you from going!

We also took a bus (number 10 and air-conditioned!) to benidorm. Took approx 30 mins to reach. Price only 1euro. Here plenty of shopping!! Also the sand beach here is better .

The area is much more busy than alicante and filled with plenty of tourists!

Plenty of bars and restaurants in benidorm and alicante that served a variety of cuisines

Weather:
windy and cold at first but then improved by the third day! nice and hot! 35c!

Overall the holiday was very peaceful and quiet, which was what we were after! Howvever if you are after the clubs then Benidorm is not that far away! So you get the best of both!
