Stayed at the Kaktus Albir Hotel from 20-25th March 2008 for a five night stay.Arrived quite late and was greeted by the reception staff. They were very helpful and friendly. The Hotel is extremely spacious and very clean. The bed rooms are large, clean and the bathroom is also large and well lit.
Now the negatives,
The restaurant staff are rude and ignorant .They talk about the Hotel customers behind their backs and lack basic English.(very hard to order a diet coke)The Food is varied but not tempting. All the hot food including Breakfast is swimming in oil.The breakfast Menu never changed with no choice of Eggs so stuck with fried eggs every day and mouldy bread. No vegetables were served during our stay unless you liked artichokes with your Main dish.We didnt enjoy the food at all!!!This hotel would be a very bad choice if you are vegetarian or vegan.
Our bedroom was over looked by the other side of the hotel and at night the noise from the main bar and lounge was very loud with no change of entertainment. The hotel is used by Saga and we were probably the youngest couple there. The in house T.V options were very poor and you have to pay for the fridge. On one day my wifes earing were placed under the bed and a can top smashed by the chamber maid on purpose.
The resort is about 10 minutes away by taxi from Benidorm where we went most of the week because Albir is boring but peaceful. Not many shops and just a few bars.We were in bed by Midnight most nights. The beach is stoney and windy. But very peaceful and pretty.
In summary a nice ,clean hotel but with rude service and a bad resort location.I would recommend the Hotel to the older traveller but not for families or young couples
As a well travelled couple we have stayed in many good Hotels but we wouldn't return back to the "Kaktus" I m afraid
