30 Dec 2008 | Trip type: Couples

We stayed on the nights of 24 and 25 December. Because it was for two nights we had to have a junior suite, as it is a 3 night minimum stay for ordinary rooms.
The suite, 203, was very modern, stylish, comfortable and clean. 203 is on the side/rear of the hotel. We knew that the hotel was on a busy main road so we expected traffic noise. This was not the problem. The problem was very rowdy Spanish youths at 4am to 5am returning from the clubs on the promenade. On 26 December at 2.30am the hotel bins were emptied immediately outside the balcony. We had just returned from our night out so not a problem, but it would have definitely woken us if asleep. The next noise issue is the ventilation shafts from the ground floor kitchens go up the rear wall of the room, so you get a noise akin to loud air conditioning when inuse, usually around meal times. The final problem is that as the floors are all tiled, you can hear the people above, as well as the motor from the jacucci bath above.
Suites at the opposite end of the hotel by the Belroy Hotel may not have the street noise issues, nor may some of the ordinary rooms.
It is such a shame, as the suite we had would have made a perfect treat for the special occasions, as it is way above the standard of the many other hotels we have stayed in, in Benidom. It is unlikely that we would stay here again due to the noise issues we encountered.
As regards other reviews, I think they are accruate. The pool area is clean but compact, the food is average, with first and last course buffet, the two middle courses waiter served. However, breakfast was all buffet, with only 3 staff on duty, who simply could not cope with a fullish hotel. Waits for crockery, food etc was the norm on both mornings. Reception staff were excellent.

Clean, comfortable hotel with helpful staff. Stayed half board, and found the food good. The evening meal consisted of four courses, 1st and 4th self service 2nd and 3rd waiter service. Alcoholic drinks with meals were quite affordable (wine&beer)
and there is a sea-view from the restaurant.

The Agir is centrally located, a short walk to the beach and minutes from the old town. This hotel is compact in a very positive way.

Negatives
Bath and bathroom was on the small side and a waste bin in the bedroom area would have been handy. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms which would save people using up valuable luggage space by taking a travel kettle.

These are just minor points and we would definitely stay there again.

Having arrived with absolutely no reservation previously made, my family and I took the risk and scored with Agir. Hotel very close to the beach, which is very pretty. Bowling place, good restaurants and stores nearby. The service was very good, as well as the room. Only the breakfast disappointed me a little, but it was fine. The pool is quite small, but with great view of the ocean! I would totally reccommend it!

we stayed for 5 days and generally enjoyed the experience, as previously reported the hotel looks better in the brochure than in the flesh.
Rooms small but adequate, bathrooms good but toilet gets a shower along with you.
Staff excellent, always had time for you no matter what the request.
Facilities are a bit disappointing, the gym is dangerous, the multi gym tends to topple over, the pool area needs refurbishment but the design and idea is good.
Food, here lies the dilema, for me Ok but i like most foods, my partner who is quite a conservative eater it was a big problem and though we were half board we generally ate out. No discount if you chose al a carte instead of table de hote is unusual.
This hotel is more geared to the spanish, most hotel literature including menu's are in Spanish, the food definately for the more adventurous. Location is excellent for old town as well as track suit city.
Go again? yeah but on a B & B basis, better food to be had in the old town.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in april and found that the food served was cold and that there was very little choice. We were presented each night with a A3 card with a choice of two starters two mains and two sweets if you dont like any of them you are told to look at the A la carte menu which would be nice if they had an english version and also you would obviously have to pay for this.
The issue of the cold food was not just one night in fact after 3 nights we didnt eat there we went out The last night we tried to eat there was the straw that broke thr camels back our main course was sent back twice and the third time it again came back cold so we walked out
For the rest of the week we went out to eat and had some lovely piping hot food in local restuarants
I have tried to complain about this with MED HOTELS which is like extracting teeth. Since april I have had two letters from them. The first suggested that in the restuarant there is a microwave and I should have used it and that was never pointed out to me. I
believe that I had booked a 4 star hotel half board and if I wanted to use a microwave I would have gone self catering. I can say that the room was ok and the breakfast was ok I would suggest that if you must stay at this hotel book B & B and dont bother with med hotels if you need to complain on average it takes then 6 weeks to respond with rediculous comments
