stayed here 24th june for 1 week. Arrived midday in 90 degree heat, not easy when you have a 3-4 minute walk uphill to the hotel from the coach drop off point ! On arriving at reception( 2 floors above bar entrance), we were greeted by the female receptionist who, quite frankly looked bored and bothered by our presence. On handing over paperwork , to our horror , she did not have our names on the check in list. A Call to the holiday company( onthebeach.com), and we were sorted, thankfully, but no apology or reason for the mix up. Anyway, we were allocated a room on the top floor (11th),and on reaching the balcony we were met with the most AMAZING view we've ever seen from any hotel- WOW ! The rooms are adequate, plasma tv , air con, decent size bathroom. The beds are very comfortable and the room was nice & clean, but the balcony is great, bed settee and nice chairs and table , and sliding double glazed windows to keep out the noise, which obviously worked as it was so peacful overnight. The pool isnt that big ,but it does the job, not too cold but cold enough to cool off in! The views are nice from the terrace/ pool area , however new sunbeds are in dire need as there were only about 8 beds which were reclinable , the rest were static types. The restaurant is air conditined ,but this was never on at breakfast time which was rather uncomfortable (why ?). The food on offer was ok , but not enough choice was to be had, soup, salads, very limited choice for main meals. The female greeter at the restarant entrance could not raise even a tiny smile the whole week ,very miserable indeed. We never stayed in to witness any evening entertainment as benidorm has so much to offer the holidaymaker , but it does have a fair size ballroom, and a large seating area. The hotel has a great location , minutes away from the beach, shops & bars. Overall this hotel rates greatly on room views & location but the stroppy staff (even the bar staff) let the place down ,but my wife & i still had a great time ( weather was fantastic), and we would definitely stay here again -CHEER UP BENIKAKTUS STAFF !.

“Loved this hotel-amazing views”

Loved this very clean hotel. The hill not nearly as bad as we thought, especially if you use the entrance and exit on the bar level of the hotel. That saves you 2 floors of the hotel which you can use the lift for! We loved the entertainment-Vicente on his keyboard singing, but then we love ballroom dancing which we could do every night! There was also extra entertainment on 3 out of our 7 nights. The food was lovely, with the lovely views over Benidorm from the large windows in the dining room. We enjoyed most of what we ate, with loads of choice at each meal. We would highly recommend this hotel to couples, but not particularly for children, although the beach is very near. If you have a choice, get a room on one of the higher floors-the views are wonderful, especially at night, with the lights of Benidorm to see. Plus, if you're higher up, any noise down below will be diluted by the time it gets to you! We loved Benidorm out of season and will definitely go again.

After arriving to the hotel, we found a very arrogant receptionist who made us wait 15 minutes before even asking who we were.

The reception area is from last century, so we guessed that the renovation we read about referred to the rooms: even though our room was renovated, it was completely unfinished - hanging wires, uncovered tubes and sockets, and a rotten door in the bathroom - see photos. At the hotel entrance, an open garbage container was "welcoming" the guests. When looking down from the window, we spotted a huge pile of waste materials that was disposed there after the renovation.

View was indeed great. Breakfast on the other hand was meant for British guests (sausage, boiled beans, ham) but since we take great care of eating healthy, this was not for us. We actually ended up buying our own breakfast in a shop.

Benidorm is a nice place with millions of tall hotels and a nice beach. The majority of tourists are seniors, so the bars and evening programs are meant for them, not young adults or teenagers.

Eventually we checked out (escaped) the very next day to a four star hotel which was at the same time cheaper in Albir Playa. That area (Albir) has excellent restaurants, a fantastic and not crowded beach, so our vacation has been an excellent one.

If you decide to go to Albir (15 mins by car from Benidorm), make sure to check the Indian restaurant in front of Albir Playa hotel and the fantastic "open kitchen" Japanese restaurant on the way to the beach.

“Beautiful Hotel Following Major Rerfurbishment”

Hotel Benikaktus

We arrived on the day the hotel re-opened after major refurbishment. The room was the nicest we have stayed in. Huge comfortable bed with colour co-ordinated bedding, plasma TV, lovely bathroom, and what was once a balcony is now an extra room, complete with patio furniture and a bed settee. The views WOW! The views were amazing. The bar and restaurant were very nice too and the food was varied and plentiful. Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone. I would book again while it is still a 3* because I would imagine it will be re-graded to at least a 4* and would expect it to be more expensive. This hotel is on a steep hill, but if you take the exit in the bar area, you cut out most of the hill and only have a few steps to walk down where you will come out at the beach / Macdonalds.
