I've stayed at this hotel many times & for me its the best VALUE hotel in Benidorm. Great location 2 mins walk to the beach & 10 mins to nightlife although other great bars such as White Horse to see the Fabulous DebnHer singing is a mere 5 mins away!
Its a smaller Hotel, which caters more to the Spanish Clientel, but thats what i like about it....i want to feel like i'm in Spain when i holiday there. There are quite a few German & Dutch guests too. Its not a Hotel that gets bothered by large Stag & Hens groups, they wouldn't feel welcome or encouraged there. Not really great for families with young children either, as the Hotel provide nothing in the way of entertainment for kids! this makes it a perfect place for me to stay, as its mainly more middle aged to elderly people there, and i find it more relaxing because of this. Pool area is lovely & quiet with no loud music. Sunbeds slightly uncomfortable as they are just of the flat variety, but plenty of them & tables & chairs to, with a small terrace leading off the bar too!
You have separate bar & lounge areas, and another room where a couple of computers are there for your use. Bedrooms are good but basic, i usually get a Single room at the back, which whilst having a double bed, dont have a balcony. This time however, i was allocated a Twin room for sole use, didn't cost extra, & had a nice balcony. Was still at the back though, which overlooks the pool at Las Dalmatus Hotel which can get a little noisey at times, but not excessive! Room of decent size & kept nice & clean, towels changed everyday, but some a bit threadbare. Maids sometimes forget to replace all towels, but a call to reception soon brings others up. Safe's in Wardrobes and this only cost €12 for 8 nights. No English TV channels...again not a problem for me. Had to leave balcony door open at night because aircon not on till June, which happens in other hotels too.
The Restaurant can get very busy at times....mainly Breakfast & Evening Meal, Lunch more relaxed! Part of this is because the room is rather small for the Hotel, plus there are both Residents & Holiday Guests at the Carabellas apartments down the hill who can book meals at the hotel too. The Food on the whole is really very good & every bit as good as any i've stayed in in Benidorm & i've stayed in many 4 star hotels. The one's who complain, tend to be the fussy ones...despite what they say...and are people who expect more of a British diet whilst on their Spanish holiday!!! Lunch time often provides the best meals and they often serve Paella then...which is as good as any i've had in any restaurant in Benidorm. All kinds of other Meat & fish choices too, from Lamb Shanks, Spanish Stews, Spare Ribs, Meatballs, Pasta's, Rice Dishes, Sausages, Eggs, Salads, Prawns etc etc...i could go on ....but the selection, based on the fact this is a small hotel of 147 rooms is impressive! Deserts are very nice too. House wine is lovely & brilliant value at only €4 a bottle & a pint of Lager is €1.5 outstanding value for a Hotel!!!
Evening Meal is served later than the norm...starting at 7.30 pm & a queue can develope around 15 mins in advance of this, but the doors never open early!...Good to get down a few minutes before though if you want to get out early. The Head waiter will show you to your table. Breakfast can get a touch manic at times too if everyone arrives together. One of the problems too, is that the start of the queue for the buffet is right at the entrance to the dining room so gets a bit congested there!
Staff can appear a little grumpy, but once you get to know them are mainly ok really....i usually like to challenge myself to get a smile out of them. Restaurant staff i find very good really, when you make an effort to talk to them, same with headwaiter & bar staff.
People complain about the hill outside, which is quite steep but no problem unless you have Mobility issues. Its 150 average paces to the bottom. If you arrive by Coach...the Coach wont access the road outside & will drop you off & pick you up opposite Burger at the bottom...so can be a bit steep i guess with a lot of cases!
Overall i love this little Hotel & at the price i don't think it can be beaten for Value in Benidorm, providing you dont just want to mix with British people & eat purely British food throughout your Holiday. If you do, or if you have Young Kids or are planning a Stag Or Hen Trip....then LOOK ELSEWHERE....as this Hotel isn't for you!....I'll be back again!!!!!
High Floor, Pool View & you'll get a small sea view too!
