We stayed at Il Nido for three nights in early July. The hotel is up on the hill above Sorrento and there are wonderful views of the Bay of Naples from both the balcony outside each room and the dining room. The food at the restaurant is very good and the view is unbeatable, so we ended up eating at the hotel each night and I think it was the best view of the trip. The fireworks each night in the neighboring valleys added to the view as well. We stayed in a quad room,(2 adults 2 teens) which was a good size and had a small balcony with table and chairs, and a great view-of course. The hotel has a shuttle into Sorrento which we used the day we went to Capri, and this worked very well. There is ample parking on the roof, which is at road level as the hotel is "upside down" with the reception on the top floor and the rooms below, as the hotel is on a hillside. We did have a little difficulty finding the hotel, but only because Sorrento was further than we thought and all the towns run into each other along the coast so it is hard to know when you have actually arrived in a town. The numerous motorbikes swerving in and out of traffic also make it an interesting experience. However the hotel is included in the list of hotels when you reach Sorrento and it is possible to follow these signs and reach the hotel. It is a long way up the hill!
