Room: Bright, clean, modern. We stayed in room 537. We payed extra to have a room on a higher floor and to have a balcony with a full seaview over the Bay of Naples. It was worth the extra cost - the rooms to the 'front' of the hotel look onto a rock face and have no sunlight on their balconies. We woke to see the sun rising over the hills and the bay each morning.
Location: a 10 minute walk from the train station to the hotel. You have to walk up a slight incline to get to the hotel - not advisable to those who do get easily out of breath but it is not a difficult walk. The peace and quiet and the views at the hotel are worth the walk.
Restaurants: Breakfast was spectacular - excellent choice of cooked breakfast, breads, fruits, cereals, cakes and fresh juices.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant was well presented and tasty - we had the half board option which was a 4 course dinner. Drinks cost €5 each.
Grounds: Great indoor pool, lovely orange grove with a super playground and a tennis court.
Day trips: We got the train for a 30 minute train journey to Pompeii. We toured the site WITH A PRAM so it is possible but requires patience. We also got the boat from the port to Capri for the day. Buy your tickets from the port offices or from the tourist info shop near the main Piazza.
We enjoyed the Hilton Sorrento Palace. It was quiet, peaceful and a good choice away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento scooters!
