“FANTASTIC”

Hilton Sorrento Palace

23 Jun 2008

My husband and I have just returned from this hotel after a fantastic stay. We stayed in an executive room which was great on a private terrace shared with other rooms. The views were fantastic over the bay of naples and Mount Vesuvious. The food in the restaurant for dinner was lovely and the views again fantastic. We are so pleased we upgraded to an executive room and was able to use the executive lounge because the exchange rate of the euro against the pound made this most welcome. You were able to have your breakfast on the top floor with stunning views and also get all your drinks and snacks through out the day as well which was a great saving against the prices in the bar. You could also use the private infinitey pool and sun loungers which was great also.

Sorrento itself is such a beautiful resort overall, this was our third visit

Please stay here if you want excellent service and fantastic views You will not regret it

“Fantastic views”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hilton, mostly because the views were so fantastic we didn't want to leave the hotel. We had booked the sea view and were given a partial upgrade in that we were given use of the executive lounge. There is food available all day long in the executive lounge and the staff is excellent. Our stay was much too short, only 3 nights, and after a very exhausting but fabulous day trip to Capri, we decided to pretty much stay at the hotel the second day (although we did do some shopping in Sorrento). We just loved hanging out at the hotel, especially on the executive floor. We felt like we were at a resort, not just a hotel. And did I mention the views!?!

The room was far from perfect, too modern for my taste, but comfortable nonetheless. It is hard to nitpick things when we just loved our overall experience there. And for breakfast lovers, the buffet there is about the best ever.

“Great hotel with sea view rooms”

We stayed for two nights with our Hilton honors points. We got upgraded to a sea view room that had a terrace looking out onto the bay. It was a lovely room and had a complimentary bottle of lemoncello for us. The view is what made it special. The pool area is really fantastic even though the pool is not heated so can be a little cold for swimming. The breakfast is not to be missed. Every breakfast food you could want is offered on a buffet and served on the terrace or in the dining room. Great views while you eat. This is a first class hotel and we had great service while we were there. The location is away from the main tourist area which is a plus for having peace and quiet, but does require more walking which we didn't mind. A taxi to the train station was only 12 euros.

“Very Bad Service, Cut”

Hilton Sorrento Palace

We stayed at 3 Hiltons this vacation. They were all great but this one! We checked in and noticed that the A/C kept turning on and off (About 4 times a Min) and the A/C control would indicate that the temp would not indicate below 23C. After waking up sweating the first few nights, I called the front desk and told them that the A/C keeps turning on and off and the room never gets cool. The Girl I talked to said, "We control the air from here, I will fix it" the air then would indicate that it was down to 21C for a little while, then back up to 23C. We had upgraded rooms to an executive room and were paying over $540 a night to sweat? We had to call to ask that we could have some A/C at least 6 times for it to only cool for a little while. Even when the control indicated that it was 21C our digital thermometer we brought only showed down to 23.6C, 74.5F and very stuffy. The last night we both woke up sweating at 3am. I called the front desk and asked to talk to a manager, the gentelman told me to dial 0 then 001. When it did't work I called back and he "We don't have a manager so I thought you wanted to call someone in America who cares!!" He had given me dialing instructions to call the US!!! He then gave the phone to another guy and he said that the A/C didn't work right because of a storm we had earlier that night. I explained that this was our 4th night and it had never worked! He told me to open the sliding door! I explained that I had tried that but there were Mosquitoes, chickens and dogs barking and that I shouldn't have to open the slider when I am paying over $500 a night! He wound up telling me at least 6 different reasons why my room was hot. The computer wont let the air go below 21C ect. I finally told him that if the A/C didn't start working I was not paying for the night and hung up! It magically started to cool! Down to 19C! All this was necessary for them to save a Nickel!!!?

We ordered room service and signed the 10 euro bill only to be charged 18 euro!! Check you bill!!!! They double charged us for Their internet service and it took over 20 mins to fix at check-out!!

We paid over $150 per night extra for the "Executive Lounge" access only to be told that we couldn't bring a bottle of water back to our room!!

Not up to Hilton standards!! There were several other problems!!

“AMAZING hotel”

Hilton Sorrento Palace

We spent an amazing couple of days at the Hilton Sorrento Palace, and loved every minute of it. The sea-facing rooms have a stunning view of Sorrento, the bay of Naples, and Mount Vesuvius -- very romantic, especially at sunset. The grounds include a lovely orange and lemon grove near the pool, and it's a quick walk (about 5 mins) down into the main part of Sorrento. Our first two nights were spent in a regular room facing the sea. The room was clean and bright and had a lovely balcony. Our last night in Sorrento, we were upgraded to an Executive Room. The Executive room was amazing -- huge, with a beautiful modern look and sliding doors that opened onto a giant balcony. We also had access to the Executive Lounge, which had complimentary drinks and snacks all day long. The breakfast was served in a large room with a wall of windows overlooking the sea, and featured a huge array of food, including American-style breakfast items like eggs and bacon -- a rare find in an Italian hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and we enjoyed having drinks in the lounge/restaurant in the evenings. Unfortunately it was a little cold for swimming while we were there, but the outdoor pool area was beautiful, and would be great for swimming and relaxing in the warmer months. I would highly recommend this hotel, and if you can afford the splurge on an Exec room, it's definitely worth it!
