Firstly, I'd like to say, the place is beautiful. Sorrento that is! It is just so lovely.
Secondly, ignore every positive thing said by anyone about this hotel because, they clearly have the lowest expectations in a holiday, and, if you're going away for a HOLIDAY then you want to be happy and there are so many lovely hotels to stay at for even the same price, the hostel looked nicer.
Don't get me wrong, this hotel has potential, and could be made 4* in no time, fact remains, it is a 2*.
Where do I begin... Went for 7 days, luckily booked the last 3 days in another hotel futher up the 'mountain'!
Arrive pretty late, no offer of a drink. Didnt feel very warm if you know what i mean, receptionist commented 'you must want food' er yeah lol 'well the bar is closed'.
Everywhere needs a spruce up. The rooms seem like someone is in the middle of moving out. Half the things taken away. Just neglected and sad! Bed was so so hard! No toiletries, shabby crappy shower. Mouldy shower curtain.
No room service, no tea making facilities, no iron!! I was told, yes we have an iron but its for the staff. Oh cheers! Ill walk round in creased clothes because your 4 star hotel wont lend me your iron.
Hated front of house staff, always felt awkward, they were always chatting away, hanging around behaving like a little gang! The bar was always unmanned and in theory I could have had ice creams and cocktails free all holiday! because the place is a SHANTY GHOST TOWN!
However, breakfast staff were so lovely, friendly and warm. As was the chambermaid!
6 euros a day for sun loungers! What a rip off.
No lunch service, no dinner service. This is a hotel that doesnt want to be a hotel.
There were no leaflets of local info on where to go and what to do, I picked all that up in the friendly hotels who actually give one. Dont complain, they dont care.
Met a waitor at the beach who used to work there 4 years ago. Didnt even need to tell him our problems - he told us!
This is a really nice hotel, the garden and pool is beautiful, but thats of its own accord and sorrento in general not because they care!
The breakfast is crap! despite the staff as i said, TINNED FRUIT. In Sorrento, you will notice that the whole place is covered in orange, lemon and lime trees. every street corner is selling amazing fruit. They feed you tinned fruit for brekky, this may confuse you..
I think I accidentally managed to pick the worst hotel in Sorrento, apart from the location which is great! My advice is, dont be afraid to book a hotel a little furthur out, and split the week and book two. Perhaps one in the center and one further out because they all have free shuttles anyway and by the 3rd day you'll be over being in the center so getting on a shuttle bus will be no big deal.
If you insist on staying here, and why would you because there are so many good ones, then get a sea view room or pool view because if you get a room at the front of the hotel like we did, then you'll spend the holiday staring longingly over the road at the amazing gardens, pool and bar of the Vittoria (and its various entertainment - every night, even sunday)! Went over there for some food and drinks, no joke, they're pool bar does the best pizza in Sorrento. (And I ate enough of it!)
So, to conclude, anywhere but here :L
Defo coming back!
