We recently stayed one night at the Boutique Hotel Trevi. I had researched the hotel and read some postive and negative reviews on here as well. For the most part, some of the points on here proved correct while others did not...but of course, everyone has different experiences. Because of the short duration of our stay, we choose the hotel on the basis of its location more than any other factor. The hotel is in a great spot. You are literally a 1/2 a block (if that much) from the Trevi Fountain. While the area was busy...the noise was not an issue - we stayed on the 5th floor. I had read the complaints about the 'small rooms' but of course that is not uncommon for the area. We had reserved a "quad room" for our family and it was a nice size and not cramped. The room was nicely furnished and resembled pictures on the hotel website. As far as the shower goes..we had requested a room specifically with a tub so that we could avoid the previously mentioned 'drain issues' -with the showers that have a floor drain...but it did not matter..the tub leaked water on the floor from underneath. Apparently the seal underneath must not be in good shape. We had to utilize our 'used' bath towels to keep the water in check. So, this appears to be a problem with at least some of the rooms in this hotel. The air conditioning worked fine in our room. We found the breakfast room to be inviting and the selection of foods to be better than expected. It's not a 'grand buffet' but there were a number of items to choose from and was arranged very nicely. Upon checking into the hotel, the front desk person was very helpul and provided some good information. When returning later in the evening to the hotel, another person was on duty and he was not as outgoing and although he answered some questions he was not seemingly very interested. This may be the person who has been referred to here in the past as being 'unhelpful'. He was not rude, but he was not as interested in conversing as the other person was. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and its great location. If we had stayed for longer than one night, the issue with the shower leaking would have been more of a problem but we just decided to 'brush it off' and not let it sour the experience. The hotel is not cheap as it is in a great location but there are certainly others that are more expensive that are not even located next to a main tourist site. I would recommend the hotel while keeping in mind the caveats listed above.

No real faults with this hotel, we stayed 3 nights at The Stendhal and 3 nights here, while the location of this one is better as far as attractions, the location of the Stendhal is better for trains, so much of a muchness. Slightly smaller rooms, cleanliness the same, breakfast the same just didn't quite have that nice feel of the Stendhal.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL .The rudest staff i have ever come across. Also the most unhelpful. my friend had just arrived from 20 hours round trip from overseas and before going to his hotel wanted to meet me in my hotel room. the staff refused to let him in, which quite frankly was staggering. Despite our protests they would not even let him use the hotel restrooms. Their condecending and totally rude manner was appaling. In addition the room I stayed in was more like a prison cell and was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I could strectch out and touch both walls!! The bathroom was so small i had to squeeze into the shower that had a non existent curtain allowing water to cover the bathroom floor. TRULY THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN

Lovely decor and position but overpriced and 'underplumbed' so to speak.

Lovely decor, although the room is very cramped, especially if you have more than one suitcase. Overpriced despite position. Air-con controls seemed to have no effect and often got stale cigarette smoke through the vent from other areas of the hotel. Cold breakfast was pretty poor for a hotel claiming 4 star status. (Ask to have a fresh coffee made on the machine rather than use their filter coffee.) Fantastic being so close to Trevi Fountain although makes area very busy, especially when taking luggage to end of street to get taxi. Porters were great but front reception staff were pretty unhelpful. No help when internet access in our room not working so we refused to pay for it. They were a little arrogant actually. Worst of all, bad drainage in shower and sink. Not sure if this is all Rome plumbing or just this hotel but if you don't mind showering in ankle deep dirty, soapy water, book here.

This was our first trip to Rome so I was careful about the hotel I picked. I did much research checking reiews which were mainly positive. I booked the hotel Trevi Botique online and e-mailed the hotel to request a taxi from the airport to which they promptly replied and it was cheaper at 50 euros. The hotel is in a busy street yet we heard no noise at all. The room was large with a small but adequate bathroom. There was air con which was a godsend! The dining area was in the basement and was small but the breakfast was good with lots of variety. The hotel is situated right next to the Trevi Fountain which was magnificent to see. The Colleseum was around a 20 minute walk or you could use the tube which is cheap. We took a guided tour of the Colleseum which I would recommend. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful and they booked us a taxi back to the airport. It is in a central location with everything you need and I would highly recommend it!!
