We were looking for a hotel where we could get really nice family accommodation with the kind of facilities that our kids would want eg a pool etc.

This is an upmarket conference type hotel.Got a great value deal on two adjoining rooms on a B&B basis from Hilton. The hotel is located a bit out of town but taxis are cheap and a courtesy bus runs frequently so don't let that put you off. The rooms were beautiful!! Marble bathrooms, gorgeous decor, bed turning service etc. The hotel breakfast is truly spectacular!! - make sure you get a B&B basis as its 40 euros otherwise but it could be your main meal for the day - the restaurant has amazing views over the Vatican.

On the downside - this place is so expensive we didn't even buy a coffee and I can't cope with 15 euros for a drink!! A rip off is a rip off in any currency. We ate in town or at local trattorias a few minutes away for next to nothing. You pay extra for a view ( worth doing) - but the biggest rip off is the SPA. It cost us 60euros just to take the kids for a swim. Excuse me???

If you like a luxury crash pad and can get a deal - go for it!!!

“Rome with a view!”

Great hotel! Views any hotel would be envious of. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing after a day (and evening) of walking around Rome. Executive Floor Reception area is superb. Loved the sound-proof, light blocking shade that covers the patio window at night. Rome Cavalieri Hilton is on the level with any Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons I've been to.

“Top notch”

Stayed 5 nights during the week following the Pope's death. Things were a little crazy due to the large number of people but the hotel was excellent and had very friendly staff. We were on a business trip so even though things were expensive (as mentioned in other reviews) it didn't really matter.

I did not mind being away from the city center at all...very quiet and not a long taxi ride.

Stayed on one of the executive floors so took advantage of the free food and drinks throughout the day. If you can manage it, its a great way to avoid the 10 Euro cokes, etc. in the hotel.

Room was large and well appointed. The only thing I dislike about Italian hotels is that you can't get an iron in your room...something about a law.

Due to the timing, actually got to see several noted media personalities in the reception area on the executive floor...Cokie Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, etc.

Great hotel if you can manage it...

What a wonderful stay at the Hilton Cavalieri. Yes, the hotel is a bit out of the way, but they do provide a shuttle service into town hourly. Its location on top of a hill allows for a magnificent view of the city. As we are Hilton Diamond members, we were upgraded to the executive floor. The Executive Club room was fantastic...a great breakfast spread (eggs, bacon, meats, cheese, cereals, yogurt with fruit, breads, etc.) snacks throughout the day and desserts at night. You can eat breakfast outside on the balcony overlooking the city....a great way to start the day.

We had a beautiful, spacious room with a balcony. The bathrooms are lovely...marble and well-appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were welcomed to our room with champagne as we were celebrating our 15th anniversary. The service was akin to that at a Ritz or Four Seasons in the US.

The concierge was extremely helpful. The driver, Claudio, picked us up at the airport. He was prompt and very outgoing.

We found it to be our little haven away from the hustle and bustle of the central city...very peaceful and quiet with a lovely pool and gardens. The workout room was one of the best that we've ever encountered in a hotel. We got to use it for free due to the diamond membership, I believe that there is a daily fee to use it, otherwise.

Not to be overly gushing, on the negative side...it is very expensive as others have noted. There are not a lot of restaurants in the area, but the nicest restaurant in the city is on the top floor of the hotel if you are looking for a very expensive splurge. We did not because we packed lightly and didn't have appropriate dress for a restaurant like that.

We will be staying there again the next time we are in Rome. We loved it.

“Wonderful hotel”

We stayed for about a week at this hotel. The prior reviews are very accurate. It is not in the center of Rome, but I also found this to be a plus. It was very serene and great to come back to such a luxurious place. The rooms are decorated lovely - ours was yellow and blue. The prices are very expensive (mini-bar Coke was 10 Euro or $13). The breakfast buffet was about $40 - but it was some spread - we really enjoyed it - try it at least once. Staff was friendly and helpful. But the very best thing about this hotel is their bed pillows! Wow! They give you about 6 pillows on the king-sized, very comfortable bed and they are wonderful. We slept great every night. Also, they treat their customers well. We checked out for a trip to Amalfi that didn't turn out too well. When we called to see if they had a room for us if we returned to Rome, they accommodated us (even though they were quite full and we didn't give any advance notice). Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The best of both worlds - like staying at a resort, with a 10 minute ride into Rome.
