We booked on 14 Jan and arrived at 7 pm on Friday 20 April. After being made to wait 30mins we were told that the hotel had "had computer problems that had affected our booking, along with 15 other bookings, and as a consequence we would have to stay 3 nights in their sister Hotel", which they said was 5-10 mins walk away. Guests arrining to check in long after we had arrived were checking in unhindered. I suspect this was actually a case of the hotel securing internet bookings with no intention of honouring them when faced with the potential of higher room rates on the day. We had to argue for some 30 mins for them to at least pay for the taxi to take us to the sister hotel with our luggage. The journey time in taxi was 10 mins and cost 12 euros (a 5 min walk?)
Over dinner we checked the internet and found that that the hotel was still taking bookings on their own website for the Saturday and Sunday nights. After a great dinner at Otello alla concordia we returned to the hotel to challenge them and after another round of argument they finally gave in and honoured the booking for the 2nd and 3rd nights of our stay. This obviously meant relocating back the following day.
Shabby service and a wholly grubby circumstance to find yourself in when arriving in any hotel, never mind a hotel of this standing.
Yes its in a great location, yes the hotel has opulent surroundings and comfortable rooms - BUT if you book this hotel you need to ask - Will you be actually staying here?
In any event their American Buffet Breakfast is as shabby as their overall service. We arrived for breakfast at 9:15 and had to wait 10 mins for a table. The breakfast room was chaotic and the buffet was unstocked. No bread, no cold meats, no hot food (scrambled eggs, bacon or sausages) the waiter advised that "they are coming soon" needless to say none were replenished so we had to make do with cereals and fruit salad (28 eurors per person) Breakfast is advertised to finish at 10:30. If you are lucky enough to be awarded a room in the hotel, make sure you get to breakfast early or you'll miss it.
Shoddy hotel taking those poor souls who book it for granted. BEWARE!!!!
