Basically you can (waste) spend alot of time looking for the right hotel.... dont bother just stay here.

This hotel is a clean, ever so friendly, good safe location, big bedded and near restaurants! The staff to everything to help you out and you can have a very good breakfast every morning looking at St Peters.

If I had to come up with some not so good points (and it's a bit of a struggle) I would say if you're after a hotel you could come back to during the day you probably wouldnt want this hotel- however you spend the whole day sightseeing so I dont see this as an issue.

We walked it from the station (10 minutes) and had no problems at all while here. Altohugh I think staying in Trastevere could be a better experiance I would actually come back to this hotel thanks to the staff, quiet location and breakfast!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Marcella Royal in November and December for a two week vacation in Italy. This was my first trip to Italy so I have no other hotels to compare it to but I found it met our needs well. Our room was clean and the staff were very helpful. The majority of attractions were within reasonable walking distance (15-20 min. walk) and others could be accessed via the Metro or buses.

Particularly, Pietro, a member of the hotel staff at the front desk took excellent care of my husband and I. We hadn't seen each other in 8 months due to military deployment and he set us up with great restaurant reservations and champagne toasts at one of them. He made sure we were well taken care of at the hotel and I can't thank him enough for making our stay wonderful.

I stayed at the Marcella Royal for 5 nights in August. I found it met my needs very well. I travelled alone to Rome and I felt very at home in this hotel. All the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. I loved the decor of the hotel and it was kept very clean at all times. My single room was very small but comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and the shower leaked all over the floor every time, but seeing as I was on my own, it didn't bother me too much. I had a snack in the roof garden terrace the night I arrived and I ate breakfast there every morning, which was a little disturbed by the pigeons one morning! There is the option of breakfast indoors also, but the view of the city from the roof garden is spectacular and to be recommended. The hotel is well located and quite near all the sights, however most of the main sights are south and west of the hotel so it isn't exactly in the centre of things. I enjoyed walking everywhere and I felt very safe walking as a lone female traveller. I liked the hotel's proximity to the Via Veneto, which was such a pleasure to walk up and down. It was lovely to come "home" to such a friendly hotel every night. I would definitely recommend the Marcella Royal Hotel.

My Wife and I stayed from the 30/11/07 to 03/12/07 to celerbrate our 30th Wedding anniversary. I chose this hotel from the previous reviews and can say we were not disappointed. The room was very good but did lack tea and coffee making facilities like in the UK. The staff were brilliant and very helpful the room was always immaculate and very comfortable. The main sites local to the hotel are the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain both within 15 to 20 mins walk. The weather was very good so we decided to walk to the vatican city which took 1 hour 20 mins and seen a lot of wonderful sites on route. ( You tend to sit in long traffic jams in a taxi which is on the meter) We are planning to visit Rome again and will only stay at this hotel because of the wonderful experience we have had.
