We've just come back from a fantastic trip to Rome and Sorrento - 6 nights of which were spent in Rome's Lirico Hotel. We booked mainly on the back of the other reviews in Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The hotel building itself doesn't look great from the outside - just goes to show how you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover! The reception is comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size looking onto the Theatre Opera Square, but was well sound-proofed so was not at all noisy. It was extremely clean with ample wardrobe space and a very comfortable bed. The shower was powerful and plenty of towels provided. Breakfast was very good - continental, with a great selection of croissants and pastries.
The only point I would make is that there is no iron available in the hotel, so fold well before you go or be prepared to go wrinkled!!
On the whole, the Lirico is a fantastic hotel in a perfect location. Contrary to what we'd heard about Italian hotel star ratings being lower in reality to Irish ratings, the Lirico lives up to and even exceeds the level of many 3 star hotels.
Highly recommended!
