I booked this hotel via Travelocity.com at E145 per night.
Upon arrival at the hotel with two elderly parents, the staff informed me that they would not honour the reservation rate. They proceeded to quote E350 per night. Staff were uncooperative and difficult.
We thus were left trying to find another hotel at 23h00 in Rome and paid E400 per night.
Be forwarned!

“Every bit as good as the reviews!”

We've just come back from a fantastic trip to Rome and Sorrento - 6 nights of which were spent in Rome's Lirico Hotel. We booked mainly on the back of the other reviews in Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The hotel building itself doesn't look great from the outside - just goes to show how you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover! The reception is comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size looking onto the Theatre Opera Square, but was well sound-proofed so was not at all noisy. It was extremely clean with ample wardrobe space and a very comfortable bed. The shower was powerful and plenty of towels provided. Breakfast was very good - continental, with a great selection of croissants and pastries.
The only point I would make is that there is no iron available in the hotel, so fold well before you go or be prepared to go wrinkled!!
On the whole, the Lirico is a fantastic hotel in a perfect location. Contrary to what we'd heard about Italian hotel star ratings being lower in reality to Irish ratings, the Lirico lives up to and even exceeds the level of many 3 star hotels.
Highly recommended!

We were at Hotel Lirico for two nights in early September 2004.
The hotel is extremely well situated, close to the train station that lead you directly to the airport.
It is also close to numerous breath taking sites that you can reach by foot and also at a walking distance form all major public transportation (bus and metro).
On our first morning we woke up really late, probably due to jet lag. We arrived 15 minutes later than the end of the breakfast period. They arranged something for us!
Rooms can't be cleaner. Decoration is refined. It is a perfect spot in Rome at a reasonable price!

“Friendly staff”

Stayed August 2004. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff and good location. Rooms a little on the small side, but to be expected in Rome. Aircon very effective and welcome! Breakfast very good, with a good range to choose from. Only downside, we had to have 3 rooms to accomodate all of us and it was not possible to be next to each other.

“Perfect for a short break”

We found the Hotel excellent value for money. We spent three nights at the hotel Lirico and it provided us with everything we needed

It is a short walk to everywhere and is right near the subway if you are feeling particularly lazy. Our room was small but this is to be expected in Rome it was however very comfortable, the staff were extremely helpful and the hotel was an excellent base to see the city. Highly recommended (Ask to pay in cash, we got a rate of 80 Euros for the night)
