I did quite a bit of research on hotels in Rome, as I wanted to treat my mother to a nice break in Rome/Pompeii, and based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, I chose this hotel and had very high expectations (based on the reviews).
Upon arrival, the staff were friendly. The room appeared to be quite small, which is probably standard for Rome? We had a twin room.
The room was very dusty, there was dust on the lamp, mirror and on the remote control, so I can only assume that our room hadn't been used for a while and had not been cleaned for our arrival. We didn't spend too much time in the hotel as we left the hotel early in the morning and the staff kindly arranged for us to have a take-away breakfast.
Our best meal in Rome was actually at the hotel restaurant, which has lovely views, however it didn't go too smoothly! The restaurant staff were nice, but we had to wait 15 minutes before being asked if we wanted a drink. We ordered our meal and it was about 30 minutes before our food arrived, however our main course was delivered and we hadn't even had out starter! The waiter apologised and assured us that the chef would cook us a new meal, which he did. The waiter offered us some bread, but didn't bring it to us, so we had to ask for it again, then it arrived with our main course.
The restaurant wasn't too busy, however the staff were not very attentive with us and bent over backwards with a couple on another table, which really annoyed me. The food was lovely though and the night view is lovely.
I have travelled extensively through work and stayed in many hotels, but I felt this hotel was far too expensive for what we actually received - £600 for 2 nights! Overall, the hotel staff were nice, but I was a bit embarrassed as I had read the reviews to my mother and it was supposed to be a real treat for her and we just expected a bit more, for the money that I had spent!
I can appreciate that for legal reasons the hotels in Rome do not provide irons in the rooms, but was rather annoyed at having to pay 7Euros to have my trousers ironed!

First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time writing a review on our Hotel. We always cherish our Guests opinions since it is through these that we manage to improve ourselves daily.
We are sorry to hear that you have found our Hotel not as you were expecting. As you have read from other reviews we always try our best to give the most memorable experience to our Guests. Reading your review we have learnt only now of some issues you have encountered with the room you were assigned therefore it is now hard for us to fully understand what might have happened, however we would like to try and explain what we can.
Regarding the size of the room, as explained in other occasions, these are fully described on all the websites where we sell. We always care about being fair towards all our Guests, and our receptionists are available at all times to help answering any queries people might have when booking. This of course, goes as well for our rates. 250-300 Euro per night in a double room with breakfast it is quite a good rate for the area in a high season such as April/May. We always try to keep our rates at the same level as other hotels; however, we also take into account the quality of our services and the events which might be in town at the time, as many other hotels do. As for the ironing’s cost, it might be more expensive than going to an external laundry shop, however the rates are quite reasonable considering the category of the hotel and quickness of the service.
As for the dust in the room, we would like to apologize for this occurrence. Our hotel is fully committed nearly every day and all rooms are cleaned very often. Furthermore, we make cleanness one of our strong points and it is very unusual for us to receive such a negative response. The only thing we might think of is that there have been some works on the floor above yours which might have caused some dust to reach your room, causing some of the furniture to get dirty. However, not having heard about this problem from other guests nor from you when here, we could not solve it on the spot by having a housekeeper sent to your room immediately.
Coming to your restaurant experience, we were extremely surprised by your account. We do not intend to doubt your words, however we remain surprised about these occurrences since our staff always goes the extra mile to impress and pamper our Guests. Furthermore, we have not had reports of any similar situation by other guests, neither before the renovation of the restaurant nor recently. Our waiters and cooks always follow a precise policy when it comes to serving dishes and bringing drinks or bread to the tables. The orders are always communicated to the kitchen in the sequence they have been taken, so it is unclear to us how it is possible that our waiters have served you a main dish before an appetizer. Furthermore, even on busy nights, we try our best to serve the meals as quickly as possible avoiding a long wait between courses.
Said this, we can only apologize for the disappointment you and your mother have dealt with during your meal and we do hope that you will be our Guests again so to make up for the unconventional experience you have faced in this occasion.
