I booked this hotel for a special anniversary, so paid extra for a 'superior' room. The entrance is smart and we were registered quickly and efficiently. I was surprised that our room overlooked rear apartments as I had emailed and requested one overlooking the square, however it was nicely furnished and decorated, if a little small, and on reflection was probably more peaceful than a front room. The bathroom however was really disappointing, badly in need of refurbishment, tired, worn and damaged appliances and fittings, non too clean due to the build up of 'stuff' on the shower door hinges and shower and tap connections. Not at all superior. The room was reasonably clean, but could have done with a little more attention to the removal of fluff in corners and stains on the pillows ( bedlinen was very clean though and changed daily with the towels) Toiletries are provided, along with a hair dryer and tea/coffee and a kettle. The prices of mini bar items were very reasonable. Our room was on floor 5a, so we experienced a little noise from the restaurant above, but this was not enough to bother us too much. We had one small problem with the safe, and it was resolved pleasantly and very quickly.
Breakfast was nothing special, but adequate and plentiful. The staff were professional, helpful and courteous at all times.
I would stay in this hotel again, mainly because it is 5 minutes walk away from Termini station, but a little removed from the really dingy area immediately next to the station. The square and the church outside are a delight, there are plenty of reasonable pizzerias and restaurants within walking distance and a supermarket and department store over the road. It is also possible to walk to many of the sights of Rome quite easily.
I would not however pay extra for a 'superior' room, as there was little superior about it, in fact the hotel is a little overpriced in general. Do check the prices in the gelataria/bar on the corner of the hotel before you order - it is very expensive indeed.
