A real quiet spot in busy Trastevere where you can take your breakfast under blues sky - if it is not too frozy. Breakfast really excellent and the rooms are small but very cosy.

After reading reviews of some rooms having low ceiling heights, we wrote a letter advising them of my husbands height of 6'2" and requested a room for our family of four. We were told the Mansard Suite would accomadate us just fine. The ceiling was approximately 3 feet high at the walls. The doors could not be entered without ducking, there were no windows in the room, there were a few small skylights in the ceiling, over all the room was very claustrophobic and cave-like. Please see attached photos. The cost of the room was almost 400.00 US dollars per night.
The employees were extremely polite and friendly. The neighborhood was wonderful, the room was kept spotlessly clean and the breakfast was better than average. The cappuccino was exceptional. In the afternoons the hors d'oeuvres were a very nice treat.
In closing the room was horrible and the whole family dreaded sleeping there each night, so be sure and know what room you will be staying in.

Hotel Santa Maria is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is very attentive and most helpful in every way. Plus, it is out of the main tourist area and very quiet at night unlike the hotels in the downtown area. The accommodations are excellent. I would never stay any where else in Rome.

Beautiful place. Small rooms but very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the gardens and patio very pretty and relaxing. Nice location- very quiet and a little off the beaten path.
