We have just returned from a four night stay at the Exedra. We upgraded to a deluxe room following reviews on tripadvisor, and although it was expensive, I'm glad we did.
The hotel is located on the Piazza della Repubblica, and we had a great view of the fountain from our room. The Piazza has busy traffic until quite late on the week days, but the noise did not disturb us once the windows were shut. If you would rather sleep with the window open than with air conditioning, then maybe a room on the front of this hotel isn't for you because it will be noisy!
The room was huge, with high ceilings and a big bed that was firm and very comfortable. As noted by other reviewers, the carpets are a bit on the mucky side, but then, cream is not a good choice of colour for a hotel carpet! The bathroom was marble throughout, and kept spotless.
We had room service on the night of our arrival - club sandwich (20euro) and tiramisu (13 euro). The food was excellent, but pricey.
Again having read the comments on tripadvisor, we skipped the hotel breakfast and went to a cafe on the opposite side of the Piazza for pastries and espresso. This cost about 12euro for the two of us, and set us up to last to lunch. He does not open on Sundays.
Was the room worth the money? In any other city, probably not, but Rome is an expensive city for tourists and I think spending the money was justified in order to ensure a great time.
