looked & sounded great on website- forget it! we moved rooms following our complaint re light fitting hanging off the wall ,exposing live wires next to a pillow! + grim, dark room, a window onto concrete wall !
but all ok compared to the worst breakfast ever! we'd paid for'american breakfast' when booking (£86 a night) but told by manager that american meant continental -a la carte for eggs/toast etc. however quality of buffet v. poor- stale rolls or even a bit of fresh fruit! nothing replenished! waited15 mins just for some hot water- forget the coffee or tea!! everyone at breakfast pissed off but staff not at all bothered!!!!

Very comfortable, quiet surroundings, with much attention to pleasant service : bed linen and towels changed daily, all-you-can-eat top-quality breakfast. Certainly warrants its 4-star status. Ideally placed for the railway station and central attractions. We look forward to returning later in the year!

There isn’t a great choice of four star hotels in Parma, so if you haven’t your car with you and you want to stay downtown this hotel is more or less the only choice. Although the hotel brochure shows luxurious rooms and hall, reality is quite different. The whole hotel needs a deep restoration. The entrance hall is good, but as you climb on the first floor, you see an old lobby and a row of very old room doors. My room was a double standard: it was dark (only one narrow window) and the furniture gave it a suffocating aspect. The bathroom has no place to put my cosmetics and my husband shave equipment, the shower was crusted and there was a dripping heater. We call the reception to inform them about the heater, they tried to fix it but did not succeed and in the end they put a rag under it in order to absorb the water. The breakfast was good and the staff very kind, generally, however I would never consider this hotel a 4 stars, I would assign it 3 stars, in a moment of generosity and for the staff’s efforts. I paid a reduced price because I went for All Saints week-end (Parma is a business town and week-ends are low season), € 99 a day, but I suppose I would have been very upset I have paid the whole price € 175.

We were pleasantly surprised--outside the hotel looks "fair", inside the welcome was nice, the rooms excellent--especially nice, large, well appointed bathrooms, the breakfast fine, and the location was just a 5 minute walk to the center of Parma.
