My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Camere Elisabetta in April, 2007. We're pushing 60, and we knew in advance that it would be a climb to our room. Imagine our surprise to be met by Josef and his little dog, Pepe and to have our luggage carried all the way up for us. The room was perfectly adequate, and the views from the room and the rooftop terrace were simply amazing. Sitting at the top of lovely Vernazza and being able to hear people talking to one another in the terraced fields, the church bells and the ocean was one of the peak experiences of our month-long trip to Italy -truly magical.

Our dealings with Elisabetta were by email and everything worked out beautifully. We would definitely stay at Camere Elisabetta again. In fact, I wish I were there right now!

My wife and I stayed with Elisabetta for 4 nights during our 2 week Italy trip earlier this month. As other posts have suggested, this is not a 4 star hotel. If you prefer to be lavished with 4 star treatment and amenities, don't stay here.

If you are open to a "real" Italian experience, this is your place. My wife and an booked with Elisabetta 6 months prior to our arrival. Our correspondence was via email. Although Elisabetta's English is not perfect, it was enough to confirm our stay.

When we arrived at the train station, I called Elisabetta, and within 5 minutes, her husband Joseph came to greet us. He led us to our room, and was nice enough to carry our 50 LB suitcase up the 140+ stairs!

We occupied the top room of Elisabetta's guest-house. The room was clean, with a decent bed and very small shower. The room had 3 windows, two of which had views of the ocean. We also had a small fridge for wine, beer, etc.

The terrace on top has a beautiful 360 view of the ocean and town of Vernazza. We spent every day reading and sipping wine up there while watching the ocean. After all of the running around in Rome, Florence, Sienna, and later Venice - Elisabetta's was a place to relax and unwind.

Elisabetta and Joseph are honest, kind, and courteous. We paid 62 EURO's a night, which was one of the greatest values in Italy.

I recommend Elisabetta's without reservation, as long as you are willing to accept a "rustic" experience.

My spouse and I just returned from a wonderful 2-week vacation in Italy. Our 3-night stay at Camere Elisabetta in Vernazza was the highlight of our trip! We arrived by train, phoned Elisabetta as instructed when we originally made the reservation back in February 2007, and within a few minutes were greeted by a smiling Joseph (her husband) who directed us to where we would be staying. In order to get to Camere Elisabetta you have to climb lots of steep steps but the view from the top definitely made the trek worthwhile. The room we stayed in was clean, with no frills, and had a wonderful view of the sea below. The rooftop terrace was a delight and we spent many happy hours taking in the breathtaking view of the sea and the village below. Camere Elisabetta is a gem of a place and we will definitely stay there again when in the Cinque Terre. Grazie mille Elisabetta and Joseph!

I have been to the Cinque Terre in Italy 3 times, and all 3 times stayed with Elisabetta (June 2001, June 2002, July 2007). After my first visit, I had to come back for more. :D Vernazza is a diamond in the rough that has been an A+ experience each and every time. I have received a comfortable room and outstanding hospitality. In fact the best part of staying with Elisabetta is the hospitality. On my first visit, one of us yawned and her grandmother insisted that we try this AMAZING Italian expreso. :D Another time, they even brought us this amazing dinner, a completely unexpected pleasant surprise and sign of welcome that I have never received from anywhere I booked online throughout my travels world-wide. The food was AMAZING. However, this is not part of the accomodation; rather a voluntary service they did for us to ensure we had an amazing stay in Vernazza. They simply wanted us to try some of the amazing food. We were all really touched at the effort and care they took in showing us a good time. I cannot ensure you the amazing dinner they served us or amazing coffee :D, but I can ensure they make every effort to make sure your stay is nothing short of amazing. There's no extent they won't take to accomodate.

You will LOVE Vernazza and the Cinque Terre, you will love your room and the breathtaking views Vernazza provides, and above all, you will love the treatment by Elisabetta and her family. Enjoy your stay.
