I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews. I have just returned after staying for 5 night with my family. The hotel is lovely, yes I do agree that the pool area is small and cramped however this did spoil the fantastic views of the lake. The pool service was very poor, but the rest of the staff made up for it, in the bar and restruant the staff where excellent, they where very busy as the hotel was full, however this did not effect the quality of service. The food was also excellent . The chef was very willing to accomodate to the customers needs by replacing part of the menu if needed. Our room was very big and over looked the lake, although it would have been nice to have had a balcony, to sit and have a pre dinner drink as the weather was lovely . It was the first time I have been to Lake Como, Bellagio is lovely and it was nice to sit and watch the world go by at the coffee bars on the front. I will definelty go back there and will stay at the Serbelloni again.

Villa Serbelloni was a very nice, quiet hotel in a great location. Unfortunatley, when we checked in, we got a room on the ground floor. While it was partly our travel agent's fault, they should have moved us right away, except their rooms were full. We booked these reservations a year in advance, so we were very disappointed. The pool was nice, you could swim in the lake, there were beautiful views, and a wonderful breakfast buffet. There was only one other problem: our air conditioning went off, we called the front desk, they sent someone with little knowledge to help, and they never sent anyone else to help. The front desk also said there was no air conditioning in the rest of the hotel, but nobody called (Yeah right). Overall, the hotel was pretty good, with of course, mishaps here and there.

I booked the Sebelloni as it came highly recommended by a work colleague, I was however very nervous having read some of the reviews here. Frankly: yes this hotel is VERY expensive but, I think, it is the only 5* in Bellagio, which is the busiest and most central town on the lake. Our room was on the ground floor, which I was a little disappointed about but, it was HUGE with a wondeful view of the lake. It seems our room had been recently refurbished: loads of storage space, decent aircon, shutters, net curtains etc...bathroom had separate bath and shower cubicle, double sink..clean and tidy.
Very few rooms at all have any balcony..a real shame when the sun doesn't go down until about 8pm!
Breakfast is served in a very grand ballroom - indoors and no view; which was disappointing.
The pool itself was perfectly clean, big enought to do lengths and very pleasantly refreshing and with a wonderful view; Sunloungers are so close together that you cannot stand in between them! One tiny little pool towel per person, unless you ask/tip the pool boys!? Very limited pool-chair service...go to the "kiosk" and get it yourself!? A real lack of anywhere for a pleasant, casual lunch or even a drink! We looked for somewhere to have an apertif but, whilst there was an area to drink, it was not a bar area and so was never busy! We didnt even try to get a drink; we could just imagine sitting waiting for a waiter to eventually turn up then wait even longer for the drink to arrive! (that is just speculation). We popped outside to the many, busy bars and restau's just outside the hotel gates. To give you an idea of the pricing...1 small bottle of water from a bar in town: €1~1.5..at the pool:€6!
Would I go back? Actually, probably yes but I would try to get a better rate..it appears I paid the full rack rate for the room ie the max possible! ouch! It was our 10th wedding anniversary so..and we were given a bottle of house wine as a congratulatory gift! Would have been nice to sit and enjoy it on the balcony!?

My husband and I fell in love with Lake Como and the surrounding towns, especially Bellagio and Varenna. We encountered Villa Serbelloni to be a first class hotel with friendly, helpful staff, beautiful grounds on the lake's edge, well-appointed, clean and comfortable rooms, as well as a delicious and generous breakfast buffet! The hotel is very convenient for hopping on a ferry to explore other lake towns or to stroll through the charming streets of Bellagio. Our experience couldn't have been further from a few of the negative reviews submitted on this website. We can't wait to return to Lake Como and I would definitely consider Villa Serbelloni again!
