As a fashion graduate I stayed at Speroonari in the early eighties and it sounds like it hasn't changed much. For half of no money I got a room with twin beds ensuite and balcony, so central I could not quite belive my luck.
Its situation wasn't only about centralness, the street it was on was heaving with everything a traveller might need, in those days there was a fast food place selling deep fried frogs a vintage wine merchant and perveryor of bespoke shoes if you will.
In the early hours of the morning bells sounded from the tower opposite, which should have been a problem but it only added to the experience. Later as a designer I stayed at posher if you like, Milan hotels and found them airless and style free.
If you are a free spirited traveller and want a incredible value for money deal don't hesitate. Now I.m a grown up posh lady with a flat in London and a private island and when I go back to Milan (probablky soon after writing this) I wouldn't dream of robbing my son of the Speronari excperience.
