When booking the Laurin through an online booking site I requested a Dolomite view room but when I got to the hotel and was given a 3rd floor room with a mountain view but also overlooking the street and a bandstand for the Bolzano Festival (which I understand takes place only every two years) I decided a quieter room on a higher floor and at the back of the hotel would be a wiser choice. When I requested this I was given the only high floor room they had left - room 522. Much to my surprise this room had a roof terrace with a beautiful view of the Duomo. It's also featured in many of their ads for the hotel. It's worth requesting. I found a grocery store and bought snacks and a bottle of wine to enjoy on the terrace. [Be forewarned: people who are afraid of narrow fire escape ladders should skip this room because the terrace is reached through a French door that leads to the ladder that twists around the edge of the roof to get to the terrace. But if that doesn't bother you and it didn't bother me, you're in for a treat].
The hotel doesn't have a concierge but the ladies at the reception desk went above and beyond to be helpful. They tried to find me a rental car on a Sunday and when they couldn't they gave me excellent information about public buses that very efficiently deposited me at the base of a wonderful cablecar system that took me well into the Dolomites and alpine valleys and then further up to the Panorama Restaurant at the top of a ski lift. What a spectacular setting. After seeing the local mountain roads it might have been just as well that they couldn't find me a car.
I didn't bother with the hotel Internet. There is an excellent internet cafe just a couple blocks away from the hotel. It's noted on the street map they give you at the hotel. I found it on my way to the Iceman Museum. It was inexpensive and they had lots of computers. I never had to wait.
The Iceman Museum is well done - better than I had expected. If you're in Bolzano it's certainly worth a visit. All in all, Bolzano was a highlight of my trip to Italy - very different from southern Italy, in fact, more Austrian than Italian. Well worth the trip.

Elegant hotel in the historic centre of Bolzano, excellent service but unfortunately the bedrooms had no double glazing and consequently little sound insulation from street noise. Not a suitable hotel for anyone wishing to get to sleep before 2.00am.
There is a night club immediately opposite which goes on till midnight. Not only could I not sleep but had to turn the TV on full volume just to hear it in a double glazed room. Reception told us the noise would end at 11 which was not the case. Nice hotel but if you want a good nights sleep at weekends select somewhere else

The hotel is located less than a 5 minute walk with luggage from the railroad station. We booked a deluxe double with the park view. The room was very large with a sitting area and nice bath. The hotel dinner restaurant is located outside in the park setting and is very good. At least one dinner or lunch there should be done. The breakfast is quite good and includes champange. The location is 5 minute walk off the main plaza. It is also only a 10 minute walk to the gondola ride to Upper Balzona.
Cons include only one computer for internet that you have pay for and stand up, no chair provided. Second the AC was only ok, it never really gets cool.
I really liked this hotel - we stayed 3 days.
