from the majority of reviews here i was expecting something with some real charm and character - sadly, i found the place completely lacking in character or warmth. the reception area is totally souless, very drab and the receptionists don't make it any better. questions were answered as briefly as possible with no attempt to provide any additional information. the hotel was almost empty when i stayed but i was given a room next to the lifts, overlooking the carpark and on a floor that was having renovation work or repairs of some sort done (so much for a quiet lie-in on sunday morning). i am sure that since i had booked just one level down from their top standard of room (they have 4) they could have given me a better room - the receptionist just didn't seem interested. the room was dated, drab and dull. it was a huge room with what looked like 70's furniture trying to look art deco. the bed covers were about 20 years old. the bath was dirty - once the jacuzzi switched on the dirty scum that hadn't been cleaned bubbled to the top. on the positive front, the bar is nice and even with no-one in it seemed to have a decent atmosphere. the restaurant lacked atmosphere but the food was quite good - a small menu but you had a good range of choices. overall, there are loads of much better (and cheaper) places to stay in the tyrol. bozen/bolzano is a fab place to visit - just find somewhere nicer to stay .....
