“Hotel in a lovely park setting”

Parkhotel Laurin

1 Sep 2007

The hotel is located less than a 5 minute walk with luggage from the railroad station. We booked a deluxe double with the park view. The room was very large with a sitting area and nice bath. The hotel dinner restaurant is located outside in the park setting and is very good. At least one dinner or lunch there should be done. The breakfast is quite good and includes champange. The location is 5 minute walk off the main plaza. It is also only a 10 minute walk to the gondola ride to Upper Balzona.

Cons include only one computer for internet that you have pay for and stand up, no chair provided. Second the AC was only ok, it never really gets cool.

I really liked this hotel - we stayed 3 days.

We stayed five nights in Hotel Laurin and everything about it was simply perfect. The hotel is excellently located in centre of town [with parking directly in front of hotel] and only two minutes walk from the attractiuve main square and historic centre. In Art Nouveau style but restored with modern touches the hotel building has a great charm. The bar, the garden and the restuarant were all very stylish indeed with swift and attentive service throughout. Our room was huge and comfortable [the hotel website is informative giving you many details and pictures of each room] and was also serviced very efficiently. All in all we felt that we were staying in the very lap of luxury and yet the rate [230 Euros in a deluxe and very spacious room for two adults and a teenager in the height of the European school summer holidays] was not excessive at all.

Huge extensive breakfasts were included in room rate with all sorts of varieties of fresh breads, croissants, cakes etc as well a many different sorts of hams cheeses and hot dishes. Meals in the hotel restuarant were excellent with some of the dishes outstanding [the saffron seafood pasta was superb] and, whilst not cheap, we thought they were reasonable value for the quality of food and setting. There were many cheap and cheerful places to eat only minutes walk away in Bolzano for when one needed something less formal. Another good, smart restaurant with excellent food that we enjoyed a lot which was just the other side of the square was called the KaiserKrone.

The "Iceman museum" [again within walking distance of hotel] is worth a trip and of course the glory of the Dolomites are on your doorstep.

A great hotel that we can unreservedly recommend.

“Old luxury !”

The parkhotel laurin was a very pleasent experience for my family. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days and everyday it was very pleasureable.

Our room was very spacious and we had spectacular views of bolzano AND the dolomites right outside our window. The breakfast was amazing. There was so much variety and it was in very grand dining hall.

The grounds outside the hotel were beautiful and lush although the website says the pool is heated it was quite cold when we went in.

You could sit outside at night and waitors would come to your service serving you drinks and desserts at your please. You felt like you were an old time king or queen.

This is a wonderful hotel and we would stay here again.

The hotel had the best hotel breakfast we came across during our holiday. There was champagne on ice. Hot food, a huge variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, breads and cakes. They also took egg orders for fried eggs, boiled eggs and omlettes. The service staff were very friendly and knew us by the second morning.
The gardens of the hotel are beautiful and it is so nice to be able to wonder around them.
Our room was spacious and the bathroom was huge and very modern. Our room had a balcony overlooking the garden.
The location was fantastic as we were arriving by train.
A wonderful hotel - very enjoyable stay. Bolzano is a beautiful town.

“Surprisingly Pleasant”

Parkhotel Laurin

I stayed 3 nights at the Parkhotel Laurin in Bolzano on May 14, 15 & 16, 2007. It is a comfortable, modern hotel with a wonderful, excellently landscaped large garden in the rear with nice seating areas. It has an excellent restaurant which served outside in the garden during my stay. Baths have been recently renovated and are very nice. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Rooms in the back overlooking the garden are quiet. I had a large deluxe double on the garden. Junior suites aren't much larger than the larger doubles--room sizes are shown on the hotel website. The buffet breakfast is served in a pleasant room with cooked-to-order items on request. I would rate the hotel at 4 stars.

The hotel has a joke of a coin-operated computer in the lobby which is not worth looking at. Fortunately, there is an excellent internet spot about a 5-minute walk away.

The same owner runs the nearby Hotel Grief on Walther Square. I visited the Grief and inspected a deluxe double and a junior suite. It is more modern in decor than the Laurin, but does not have its own restaurant, although it reportedly serves outstanding breakfasts.
The Laurin and the Grief are clearly the two best hotels in Bolzano.
I prefer the Laurin with its garden and restaurant and other full-service features.

I found Bolzano to be a pleasant place to visit and may well return again for another stay at the Laurin. On a future visit I probably would use the Laurin as a base and explore nearby towns and trails. The archeology museum with the famous iceman is excellent--I spent two hours there. The highlight of my stay was taking the cable car to Oberbozen and walking along the well-marked trails to the Blue 3 and Blue 4 destinations. Views from the trails are spectacular. I had
a very pleasant lunch on the patio of the Park Hotel Holzner near the top of the cable car in Oberbozen.

Bolzano is on the main rail line between Verona and Munich and has frequent service with Eurostar trains.
