We stayed for two weeks in July/August. They picked us up from the station, we had a lovely, large, clean room with a balcony overlooking the garden and pool and hills opposite. There was a good choice for breakfast which you could eat on a terrace overlooking the view, and they also had a restaurant which you could book in the evenings and again you could eat on the terrace. The staff were all very friendly and made us very welcome.
We walked everywhere locally (20 minutes walk into town from the hotel or the bus stops right outside) and took the train to Trento, Verona, Mals and Innsbruck, and buses to Klobenstein and Karersee. In Bolzano, the Otzi museum and Castle Runkelstein are well worth a visit and there are endless cafes where you can just sit outside and watch the world go by! There are also two walks from Bolzano (details from very helpful tourist office) that take you very quickly into the surrounding hills.
