This hotel promotes itself as a four star but I would consider it to be a 2 star. The first room we had was small, terrible view and it smelled like a skunk. When I requested a new room the front desk attendant was 'put out' and when I explained that it smelled like a skunk, he suggested it might be the cleaning products they use. The second room was bigger and had a view but the shower (no tub) was small, it didn't drain very well and the door would not stay on the track and was either stuck in the open position or flapping outside the shower stall. I had to request hangers to hang our clothes, we were there for five nights for a conference - some of the staff were helpful.

I dropped some coins on the floor next to the bed and when I reached down to get them I lifted the bedskirt - I was SHOCKED and extremely unhappy with what I found: empty food wrappers, layers of dust and at
least 6 empty plastic water bottles! I complained to the housekeeping
manager and invited him to take a look - he was aghast! They cleaned a bit under the bed but didn't freshen our towels or clean the bathroom that day. I developed little red 'bumps', like spider bites,
on my torso and back the day after we left this hotel. I can only assume they were bugs from the bed! I still have small marks and it has been a month since we were there .

On the positive side, the morning buffet breakfasts were good. I would not recommend this hotel if you are expecting a 4 star experience. If you are looking for a clean room, friendly staff then I would stay elsewhere.

Booked this hotel after every other cheap option was full. The experience was OK, but the reception was always busy with "suits". Good to find people who speak english in Trento, german much more common. Staff 'professionally' friendly. Location good - short walk through the park to railway; other direction to centre.
Room modern, comfortable, clean & tidy every day, but shower cramped, and that toilet behind the door! Balcony outside rooms on one wing only. Beware the underground car-park at 10 euros per 24 hr. Sunday parking is free on the street outside, but charging (1 euro/ hr) starts at 8 am weekdays (if you park at night you can feed the meter and get a lie-in until later).

Boscolo is a clean business hotel in the heart of Trento and was a perfect one-night stay near the Dolomites. For 99 EUR it was a good value, although breakfast was not included. We snagged a 'free' parking spot on the hotel grounds, but were told other options were to park on the street or pay to park in their garage. In walking distance there are historical sites and plenty of restaurants. The room was clean, nice and had AC. The bathroom was a good size, but strangely the toilet was directly behind the door and a door-stop positioned in perfect placement to stub any toe.

“Not "Grand", but for small town adequate.”

Should have gone north further into the Dolomites and stayed. Hotel was clean, but just average. Probably better than most hotels in this small town. Friendly people and centrally located near restaurants - but not much parking. Told to park on street at night and it would be o.k. and woke up to a parking ticket.

“Expected more from a 'Grand Hotel'”

Boscolo Grand Hotel Trento

Stayed here in the summer of '04 on a friend's recommendation. The location is great -- its central to everything -- but the hotel itself left a bit to be desired. The furniture in the room was old, worn, and dusty. The lobby was always packed with business people at conferences and the staff was not very helpful. Hotel restaurant was very expensive. Rate wasn't too bad at $125/night but I'd probably try another hotel on the next visit.
