This was a collection about which I was curious but not dying to see. My wife is the art aficionado and it was for her we visited.
Not withstanding my slight reluctance, I can honestly say this was a highlight of my time in Venice. The palazzo is magnificently kept and combined with the outstanding but boutique collection of abstract and surrealist art, is quite magnificent.
Ok - hardly any if the art floated my gondola, but some pieces were extremely interesting, even to a neophyte like me. In particular the surrealist work of the late 30s and early 40s should be a little more accessible and thought provoking if you are open to the experience.
To do nothing else except visit and walk though at break-neck pace is to do yourself a favour. Surely there is one thing here for everyone but the most recalcitrant of visitors.
