Booked this through Canvas and stayed in a mobile home. Reviews and descriptions looked ideal for our family, but unfortunately proved other wise. Site too big, very impersonal. Staff generally disinterested & unhelpful (to the point of rudeness in the case of the Sala Artisti)
Lots of restaurants, but unfortunately all serve similar food that seems to cater for what they think tourists want. Meals obviously not prepared from scratch and very little in way of regional specialities - don't come for good italian food!
Canvas staff pretty much useless on this site (although past experiences have been very good), virtually no local knowledge & didn't seem bothered about it.
On the plus side - great beach and lovely pool areas, though these do get very busy
We won't be going back...

“Fantastic Camping Experience”

Its difficult to know where to start. The campsite is enormous, easily a 15-20 minute walk from east to west and perhaps 10 minutes north to south. In it you appear to have everything: 2 swimming pool complexes, acres and acres of sandy beach, a pine forest, adventure playground, bouncy castle park, hairdressers, mini golf, sports field (for football, archery etc), kids clubs, supermarkets, camping shops, cocktail bars, restaurants, gelatos, cafes, the cleanest public toilets you have ever witnessed... and I could go on.

Big really is beautiful here as you really do not need to increase your carbon footprint once on site apart from to visit Venice. The journey to Venice is busy (bus & boat) but more bearable if you drive to the port (we had a hire car) and park for 5 euros.

I cannot fault the site at all and the kids appeared to love it too.

Like others reviewing this we went with Bolero who were pretty flexible about meeting our needs onsite and would recommend them. Their location is fantastic too - slap bang in the middle of the campsite.

This is a great place as everything you want is on site. great pools and if youre lucky very near the beach. we booked with Bolero so knew alreadt that we were near the beach. They are the nearset English company to the beach- we had a mobile home which was small but adequate.

Restuarants really nice and reasonable prices too. supermarkets also not too expensive. Transport around the site could be better as we only seem to see the Grand Tour bus when full and never near where we wanted to get on to go to the main shopping area of the site!
As said before on this site, mainly germans stay here but we dont mind that! Transport to Venice may be just a bus and boat ride but be prepared for lots of people, esp on buses, as we had to stand the entire journey. Not much in Cavallino and we were surprised at how little there was in Jesolo too, but enough for a day trip there. All in all a good site with good beach access and pool areas.

“Amazing”

We live in the UK and booked with Bolero. They exceeded my expectations in every area. They are quite small and very friendly and if you are able to book with them, then you should. However, they get so much repeat business that you have to be really lucky to find a place.
When we arrived in the mobile home they had milk and tea ready for us. They even got more milk..
They organised evening get togethers and the evil looks we got from passers by were great. Especially the Germans seeing how much fun we were having..
The site is huge, many shops, a Doctors, restaurants and takeaways. It really is like a little village.
No problem with the food. No problem with activities. No problems...
Lots of Germans, Austrians, all walking around in their speedo's and bikinis very entertaining..
It is similar to Centreparcs but with Sun Sea and well, Germans mainly..
Have fun

“Great Holiday”

Union Lido

7 Jul 2007

Union Lido is an absolutely superb camping resort. It's great for adults and kids alike. There's so much to do and if you're lucky (as we were), the weather is perfect. My family and I (wife and two daughters, 6 and 3) spent the last week of June and the first week of July 2007 in the camp.

We stayed in a mobile home which was run by Happy Camp. The staff at Happy Camp were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The mobile home itself was average at best however. It was very small and the interior was basic and dated (see further comments below). However, given the amount of time we spent indoors, this wasn't a big deal in itself.

The facilities at the camp were excellent. The pools were great - two aqua parks with numerous pools in each. I wasn't a big fan of the Laguna pool myself as it had some sort of artificial sand (which was more like gravel) to give a "beach effect". It was a little bit rough on the feet. However, a half decent pair of sandals sorts this. The beach was nice and a bit hotter than the camp itself, which is cooled by the surrounding trees. We only tried a couple of the restaurants which were fine. However, the camping experience is all about cooking outdoors. Most mobile homes come with a gas bbq / hot grill. There's also a pizzeria (average) and a rosticerie (lovely) if you want a takeaway. When you need a break from the kids, there's no problem - a kids club which runs for a couple of hours each afternoon where they do painting and games. In the evenings (8pm or 8.30pm) there's a "babydance". This is a disco for the pre-teenage kids. Mine absolutely loved it. It was great for tiring them out after a long day!

Venice is also nearby. We went in twice. It's simply a bus and boat ride away and can be reached in a little over an hour from the camp. Otherwise, the camp had pretty much all we needed.

Overall, great holiday. We'll definitely be going back. HOWEVER, WARNING TO IRISH TRAVELLERS - I don't recommend Topflight. First of all, you fly to Verona. There's three major airports closer to the camp than Verona. Given stopoffs in Jesolo for other holiday makers, it took 3.5 hours to get from the airport! Second, as I mentioned above, the accommodation (mobile homes) is very basic and very overpriced. Our holiday cost €3,500 for the four of us. We have since priced to book directly with Thompson Al Fresco (with infinitely better mobile homes) and fly yourself to Treviso, you would get it for LESS THAN HALF THIS PRICE! Don't say you weren't warned!

Anyway, we've learned from our mistake and will be booking next year's holiday to Union Lido as soon as we get a chance!
