We stayed here twice in the last month. Once when we arrived and once when we left Venice. The proximity to train & airport is fantastic, especially if you have an early flight or train. It can be almost impossible for ealy morning flights from other areas of Venice, as my sister found out last year. Last time we were in Venice we stayed at Hotel Aponte Mocenigo (#1 in Venice) and would have stayed again but it was full. In my mind, Hotel Ca'Dogaressa had nicer rooms and the location was far better but a bit pricier I think. Its a bit removed from the tourist bussle and is right on a busy canal so the it is picturess without being overly touristy.
This hotel is immaculate, with wonderful decor. We had a small superior room on the first leg and a suite on the last leg. The small room was nice with shower but bo view of the canal. The suite was spacous, with a view of the canal and lots of breezy fresh air. It also had a nice sitting area (with pull out couch if you have kids) to enjoy a glass of wine and visit. Unfortunaley the suite did not have a shower (just a hand held faucet in the tub) and my husband ws not happy with that although I loved having a soothing bath after a hard day touring.
Having our mornig breakfast right on canal was great. The breakfast was average (chocolate coussants were good!) but setting fabulous. There is also a great little bar/cafe/panini place next door also on the canal to get a drink and bite to eat. That is very handy. The half block walk to catch a fairy is very flat (easy for luggage) and goes everywhere you might like to go, San Marco Square, even Lido and Murano.
I highly recommend and would gladly stay here again.
