Stayed at Ca'Furlan at 10th & 11th June. We were in Venice for a friends wedding. We found the hotel using the directions e-mailed to us from the hotel and had no problems getting there whatsoever. We arrived earlier than the requested check in time but received a very friendly welcome and we were amazed at the standard of our room. It was very spacious, decorated in a typical Venetian style and absolutely spotless. It also had the benefit of air con which,as the weather was so hot ,was a welcome surprise. The breakfasts were lovely and they even put an early breakfast on for us on our last day as we had to get to the airport.
The staff seem to go out of their way to help us, nothing seemed too much trouble.
We would definitely recomend staying here, in fact we are planning our next trip very soon !!

We booked two rooms with canal view at this hotel four months ago (159 euros each room). Two days before our arrival, the owner sent us an email saying that there was a problem with the rooms we reserved and that unfortunately, nobody will be working at the hotel at this date. He told us that he booked two other rooms, same standard, in another hotel, in the same area. We really felt angry but did not have the choice, as all the other hotels were full.
Once arrived in Venice at the other hotel, we went to Ca Furlan just to have a look and saw that the hotel was open and that customers went inside, so the owner lied to us.
Our stay at the other hotel (Locanda Valeri) was a terrific experience, as we had some very awful rooms at the same price, without any view and with many problems. Be careful, do not trust Ca Furlan.

We had no trouble finding the hotel.
A good map of Venice is essential-I purchased one at home before we left. I was bit worried since we had gotten lost and were running late, but we made to the hotel right at 7 pm. They were waiting for us; apparently there was a problem with the shower in our room, so they put us up just around the corner, in a lovely building with frescoes on the ceiling, and also with a canal view (Palazzo Schiavoni). We moved back to Ca Furlan the next morning. The room was nice, if a bit small, but it was fun to be able to open our window and watch the boat traffic going by. My only complaint was that we were suppose to have an internet connection, but the cable was missing. They promised to get us one, but had not by the time we left. There are not usually staff around much during the day, so you will be on your own if you have questions. I would stay here or the Palazzo Schiavoni (which also has an elevator) again.

“Simple, Quiet, Clean”

This quiet simple B&B is in a clean quiet corner of Venice. It is in a great location and is simpler to get to than most described. Just follow their directions slowly and carefully (remember the streets aren't straight). You will be well within walking distance of the main square.

We missed a connecting flight and arrived after 10:30pm. They were very accomodating and understanding. As we walked through the streets to the B&B you could literally hear a pin drop.

The rooms are small and simple (as pictured). The bath is clean with all the necessities. The hot water was a bit up/down and scarce sometimes. Our mini-fridge was not cold. I assume they mistakenly plugged it into the power that is switched by the room key.

The person answering the phone spoke english but the one attendant we saw throughout our stay did not. But she was all smiles and with a few hand gestures we made do very well. Breakfast was standard continental with wonderful coffee individually brewed.

The price is right, location is right and we enjoyed our stay very much. Cash only - be aware.

This was the first stop in our trip to Italy and I was VERY pleased with the size and cleanliness of the room and bathroom (though I could never figure out where the fan was in the bathroom!). The staff was incredibly friendly and the woman who helps out at breakfast (and takes care of checkout) doesn't speak much English but makes up for it in enthusiasm. Also note that check in isn't until 4pm unless you tell them in advance exactly what time you arrive.

If you're first time travelers to Venice and taking the water taxi/bus from the airport, make sure you tell them when you get ON that you're going to the ARSENAL stop. If you just hop on, they'll assume you're going all the way to the San Marco stop and your luggage gets buried in with the rest. It's not a long walk back, but it is annoying.

Even with the directions provided, we got lost trying to find the B&B but once we figured it out, realized we were in a great residential location. One way to make sure you're following the hotel directions correctly: you should NEVER have to walk over a canal bridge that has steps. In fact you bear around to the right of a building just before a set of these steps (we missed that part...) :)

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Don't cross ANY canal bridges that have steps in order to get there. If you do, you're going the wrong way!
