I have been going to this restaurant for the last 7 years and the food never fails to disappoint. In fact, since the first time I visited I have been recommending it to people ever since as a must visit during any trip to Venice.
My sister had never been to Venice before and I wanted to show her the delights. We booked many weeks ago so I was quite surprised when I arrived at the restaurant to find that we had been given such a small table - even smaller than some of the tables for 2. I expressed a wish to our waiter that we moved to a bigger table and we were told that there were no other tables and we would not have room to share as we wished. To be honest once the bread, water, wine and glasses arrived there was very little room for anything else!
Clearly I was extremely disappointed as one of the pleasures of eating out is to experience as many flavours as possible, sharing the delights with others. Having booked several weeks before hand I did not expect such a poor table. The most annoying thing of all was the waiter's attitude. It looked to me as though there were a few tables free, so I asked that we be moved after those guests had left the restaurant, but he insisted they were all rebooked. Fortunately I spotted a waiter that we had previously during our visits, who I must say was way more accomodating than the first. He transferred us to a much larger table when the people before us had finished, allowing us to share as we had wanted. Interestingly, out of the three tables he had referred to as being rebooked, one "cancelled last minute" - rather convenient! and the other two were never turned.
The food was, as always, extremely good with some extremely delicious dishes. The only reason it doesn't get an excellent rating is down to some staff attitudes! They certainly cannot all be tarred with the same brush, but please for the sake of your colleagues that are really trying hard - make more effort. One thing to realise is that if you make your guests happy, not only will they recommend to others, they will return time and time again and also they would be more likely to spend more money in the restaurant if their experience is enhanced by good service. Is it not therefore in their best interests to make people welcome and not alienate them??? Simple logic - be nice and people will spend more time and therefore more money! Simple economics. Keep the customer happy. Surely the simplest rule in the restaurant business.
Would return because the food is simply delicious.
