My wife visited this hotel with Australian friends last autumn and was very impressed. Sadly our recent experience was somewhat different.
On arrival we were informed that there was no record of our reservation, despite the fact that we had a pre-paid voucher. There was no apology and no guarantee of a room. After text correspondence with our travel consultant it transpired that there had been a computer failure at the hotel on the day our booking was made - why no back-up? We were eventually given a room, which was small, dark and airless with a view onto what looked like a building site, with debris, empty cigarette packets and chopped off electric cable (room 218 - to be avoided at all costs),. The only storage space was a small wardrobe with 4 hangers - no drawers anywhere - and in the tiny, but perfectly formed, bathroom the bidet provided welcome additional storage capacity! We were fobbed off with a bottle of Prosecco, which we later discovered was suggested by our travel consultant and was not a PR gesture by the hotel!
On the plus side, the location was excellent, just a few metres from the Arena. The room was kept spotlessly clean, despite the unavoidable clutter and was exceptionally quiet. The excellent windows even enabled us to sleep through a Rock Concert in the Arena one night. It would have been even better if the air-conditioning had been working, but that seems to have been a bureaucratic ruling rather than a mechanical malfunction. Breakfast was adequate and the breakfast team were efficient and very friendly. Most of the reception staff were helpful.
I would not consider visiting this hotel again or recommending it to friends - or even enemies!.
The Giuletta e Romeo down the road looks a better bet.
