The Basilica of San Zeno is a wonderful place to visit. Peaceful. Serene. Great story behind the bishop who founder the church and who came from Africa. The Basilica has great brochures in English where you can learn about this special Saint who had a huge impact on the whole region. The history dates back to the 8th century. Ama

Church was rather plain inside but had some interesting features such as the split level below the altar taking you down to the crypt of San Zeno, the 8th bishop of Verona AD380. Also note the bronze panel front doors and the nave ceiling.

If you're looking for something pre-Renaissance this is it. Simple, when compared to it's post medieval counterparts, but there is something about it that makes you linger around. Check the animal sculptures in front too.

breathtakingly beautiful. As I walked through the door I was in ore of the whole building and there was so much to study and explore I didn't know where to start. Leave yourself time to absorb the art work and explore every part of this amazing building, especially the bronze door. Make sure your camera battery is charged.
