If you visit Verona you can't miss this roman church.
It looks nice outside and when you go in you will be enthusiastic.

We arrived early in Verona after our stay in Venice. Our room was not ready in our hotel nearby. They suggested we visit this beautiful church.
The exterior is pretty but the interior including its gardens are absolutely stunning. The church was set up for a Wedding which was due to start in one hour. There was a string quartet playing as the guest began to arrive.
As we had just got engaged the day before we strongly considered returning to Verona to get married. This church is the main reason we considered it. There are some beautiful churches in Italy but this was definitely one of my favourites.
It's a must see.
Wonderful place to visit. We done this before visiting the historical town of Verona, in front of the church there is an superb cafeteria (with wifi) for some quality , peaceful time.
The Basilica of San Zeno is a wonderful place to visit. Peaceful. Serene. Great story behind the bishop who founder the church and who came from Africa. The Basilica has great brochures in English where you can learn about this special Saint who had a huge impact on the whole region. The history dates back to the 8th century. Ama
Church was rather plain inside but had some interesting features such as the split level below the altar taking you down to the crypt of San Zeno, the 8th bishop of Verona AD380. Also note the bronze panel front doors and the nave ceiling.
If you're looking for something pre-Renaissance this is it. Simple, when compared to it's post medieval counterparts, but there is something about it that makes you linger around. Check the animal sculptures in front too.
