Stayed at the Scandic for two nights whilst on a trip to watch Scotland play Italy at football. Staff were excellent. Rooms very modern and comfortable. Breakfast first class. Could not fault it.

I stayed in the Scandic by Hilton, Bari on 1 January 2007 with my husband, just for one night before leaving to go home on 2 January. This hotel is a little gem. On arriving at the hotel the receptionist was extremely friend and made us very welcome. We were informed that breakfast would be served at 6.56 am, but we informed them that we would be leaving at 5.30 am to catch our flight. The receptionist informed us that she would sort something out for us.

On entering our room we were taken aback with the decor and the trendy modern shower room, the shower cubicle itself completely glass for floor to ceiling and you were able to see straight into the bedroom. The room was perfectly clean and quite large compared to some hotel rooms. The bedlinen and bedspread were again crispy clean and again very trendy.

There was a tv, minibar, and internet connection.

The restaurant was unfortunately closed on New Years night. However the restuarant was quite small but overlooked the garden and swimming pool, which was very pretty.

The receptionist went out of his way to find out what restuarants were open in the area, and actually recommended a restuarant called JUMP which was literally around the corner, and what a restuarant it was, excellent and also with excellent service and very reasonable.

On leaving the hotel room at 5.15 am the following morning we were guided straight into the breakfast room where the hotel had put on a continental breakfast for us and the waiter and male receptionist could not do more for us.

We ordered a cab with them for 5.30 am and this turned up on time to take us to the airport.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Scandic and would certainly return again.

The only downside to this hotel is that is slap bang in the middle of a concrete jungle residential area. However, this would not stop us paying another visit.

We selected the Scandic Hilton for our first night in Puglia when we were arriving at Bari Airport at around 9pm - it is a straightforward drive of around 15kms and, we reckoned, there should be no problems at a Hilton if we arrived late. How right we were - we eventually arrived at around 11.30pm.

The staff were very efficient and friendly - they apologised when they told us that the dining room had just closed but, at our request, they quickly supplied us with delicious bread and cheese and refused payment! They also pointed us to the free (yes, free) bar which had a full selection of beer, wines and spirits.

The hotel is modern and the rooms are comfortable, spacious and stylish. We thought the 'see-through' bathrooms discussed by others was fun and, certainly, a first in our experience. We had requested a high floor which gave us a great night time panorama of twinkling lights.

Despite flight delays the Scandic Hilton helped to get our holiday off to a great start; the location is not central but is ideal for drivers looking for a stopover to or from the Airport where there are no nearby hotels. Parking is plentiful, too.

Have just arrived back from a delightful holiday in Puglia. We spent our first 3 nights in the Scandia and our final return night there too, having travelled around Puglia.
The hotel, though situated in a rather non descript part of Bari, is more than redeemed by the warmth of the very helpful staff headed by manager Enzo Acello. The whole ambiance is one of welcome, the rooms modern, and the hotel, from our perspective, had a chef, who produced succulent and lovely meals.My wife and I would reccomend it to anyone wishing, either to use Bari as a base from which to visit the wonderful Adriatic coast, or as place to stay.
