One can not put into words the dining experience at Sa Mandra, a Sardinian family run farm/restaurant. Set just a mile or so from the airport in Fertilia, this charming farm and all it's wonderful workers and servers draw you into their magical world, the minute you step foot on the path into the farm. Ancient farm equipment, Sardinian antiques, pottery and cooking utensils adorn the various different buildings on this farm complex. But make sure you go in there hungry, because you are about to experience mind blowing traditional Sardinian dishes served in an six course menu, including wine...and all for 40 euros.
...Boars that were roasting on a fireplace big enough for eight men to stand in side by side, pastas stuffed with the cheeses made on the farm, homemade prosciuttos and salumis that are included in an "eight" plate antipasto, delicious pastries served with homegrown seasonal fruits and wines from a nearby vineyard.
You may be groaning as the meal progresses and the platters keep coming, but you just have to taste everything, because I venture to guess you will never have a dining experience like this one ever again in your life.
I know your mother told you to clean your plate, but here is a situation where eating everything that is served to you is a physical impossibility. Not to worry though, the final course is a selection of digestiffs that the waiter encourages you to try!!!
One caveat...make sure you arrive there during daylight or have GPS in your auto... set on a winding country road, the signs are barely visible and you could find yourself in Olbia if you're not on the lookout.
