I think it would be hard to beat the stunning views which the poolside area (including infinity pool) and rooftop bar offer. The rooms were to a decent standard and the level of cleanliness was impeccable. The nearby beach is busy but has very good facilities - sunbeds for hire, toilets and several places to eat at reasonable prices. The hotel's shuttle runs to and from the beach around 5 times a day but make sure you don't expect it to take you anywhere else - at least not unless you want to be lectured by the staff! A car is essential as although there is a bus stop by the hotel, you still need to walk up / down a very steep hill (approximately a 5 minute walk but even as 2 reasonably fit 25 year olds we found it hard going in the summer heat). The last bus leaves the hotel at 7.30pm into Olbia so you will need to get a taxi back (approx. 25 euro). Taxis are difficult to find and there are apparently only about 4 operating in Olbia during the evening. I would strongly recommend getting reception to pre-book you a taxi - especially if you don't speak Italian. A good alternative for dinner is the hotel next door who welcome you with open arms and where you can sit outside to eat (unlike the Luna Lughente). Food was generally very good - although options for lunch are more limited. The major let down is the hotel staff. I have never received such poor service in a hotel. Whilst staff at breakfast were generally helpful, by the evening dinner service they had gone rapidly downhill. I have never met such a hostile maitre d before! The worst offenders are the reception staff who at best are unfriendly and at worst are rude and aggressive. Having complained to management, we received a free dinner and, it has to be said, for the remainder of our holiday we received impeccable service. After 7 days, we discovered that the service could in fact speak English! From what we saw in our last two days, it seems the staffs' new friendly and helpful attitude also seemed to be extended to other English guests. Provided this continues, Luna Lughente would be a fantastic place for a romantic break. If not, the bitter taste which the sloppy service leaves in your mouth unfortunately overpowers the other more favourable features of the hotel.
